Works good enough, or at least better than anyone is going to do with a knife and straightedge. I gotta question the bad reviews--this thing cuts at an exact & straight 90. You MUST have clean, straight, exact 90-degree cuts when laying tile. If your cuts are not straight and 90-degress exactly, you're whole job is going to be botched up.
.
You will be sitting on the floor in a cramped space. This saves a boatload of time and wasted tiles from bad cuts. I tried cutting with a straightedge and knife. Not fun when sitting on a bathroom floor. Just use this thing---put the tile in, whack the blade down, and you're done. Perhaps some of the reviewers were trying to push or muscle the blade down. Works better if you give it a very firm, whack and follow-through. Going slow is gonna pull the tile a little, creating an inexact angle. You must hold the tile tight against the base edge so you get an exact 90 cut. Also, seems to work better with the tile's finished-side down.
.
No it's not a perfect tool. If you sew, this ain't no Juki. If you're a machinist--this ain't no Mitutoyo. If you're a guitarist, this ain't no Martin. But it is 1000 times better than a box cutter and a ruler.

We were initially trying to cut the vinyl floor planks with a utility knife and straight edge, wasting a lot of time. Once we picked up this vinyl tile cutter, we flew through the rest of the project. This cutter was very reasonably priced, and made clean, straight cuts each time. It's a great buy.

It simply could not cut my 4mm Vinyl Plank Flooring. It did however cut the cheaper self stick tiles i used as a leveling course.
so in summary - if your cutting the good stuff - it isn't the best - but for the cheaper & thinner flooring it will work fine.

The product is poorly built. They handle only had one screw that fit. The other screw was about a half too short to secure the handle. Beyond that, once we started trying to cut the floor it became apparent that the floor material was going to resist every effort by this cutter to slice it. If the cut could be made it was on an angle and jagged. A Jagged Edge not usable because the waterproofing would be compromised. I'm not one to batter a manufacturer whose done their best but this tool should not be used on vinyl planking.

You definitley have to eat your Wheaties to cut this! I haven't had a chance to swing by home depot to return but it's on my bucket list for this weekend. I ended up having to take the laminate(s) to a friends house and he cut them with a blade. Although it didn't work for me because I guess I am not strong enough, doesn't mean that it wont work for a man.

This cutter was very poor quality in my opinion. Would have maybe worked okay on very very thin or soft material but doesn't work on most of the product sold where I purchased it. Unfortunately this was the best option they had available. Very disappointing and I would not recommend to anyone.

It didn't cut well at all. I had to put my whole body on it to cut it& it only cut one side, and the cut wasn't clean. I had to purchase something else which isn't much better but at least it actually has a sharper blade.
