First off, the shipping packaging is horrible, part of it has to do with how solid the tool itself is, which is a good thing for longevity but not so much for shipping via FedEx. There were holes in both ends of the box yet miraculously nothing was missing from the package. As for the tool itself it is quite bulky and cumbersome to move around. When installing flooring my experience is that you need to have thing moving with you in a convenient efficient manner; this puller does not necessarily fit that ideal situation.
As for the performance the magnets, which are added in various levels to match your new flooring height so as to not scratch or damage the edge of the piece during an install close to the wall where a tap block cannot be used, are relatively ineffective. They don't remain in place easily, and I am not truly certain how necessary they actually are during the installation process.
The head on the tool is wide and it is thick, great for most situations but not so much in tight quarters. I do enjoy that the striking surface is designed well and appears as though it will with stand the rigors of years of service in the field. The felt backing is nice for rest the tool on the work surface without fear of scratching the finish of the flooring, but again this is something that may not manage to endure the long haul by the time it is moved around from job to job and in and out of toolboxes.
All that being said, the puller does work, and it well constructed. My concern is that this tool is not efficient enough to warrant remaining a part of my flooring installation tool kit. And also, there is not instructional booklet or guide included...tool is self explanatory for someone who has seen and used similar tools previously but not so much for the novice DIYer.

I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. It needs a little tweaking in my mind to be a 5 star; and this has to do with the magnetic shims. I feel they should be mechanically attached or made of much stronger magnets, in trying to use them I found we were chasing them around the floor. I am a DIY’er vs. a professional installer but I see where this would work daily for a lifetime with professional use and hold up. It is as stated: heavy duty, steel constructed, and tough. I found it does what it is intended to do; install flooring. For this application I used as installation tool only, no demolition was required. Likes: The spot on the tool you hit it with the hammer to tap the flooring in place, showed no signs of damage or even use after completing the 12x15 floor install. The tapered edge on the flat end of the bar was handy for prying up the floor to clear the edge and when spacing away from the wall; it alleviated the need of another tool in the work space. Dislikes: The magnetic shims did not work as indicated, they kept coming off. This was easily remedied with duct tape for the flooring we installed but for other types of flooring this may not work. The laminate flooring we installed was 7mm thick and although the recommendations say 8mm minimum; it worked with no issues. Overall very pleased with this tool, it will be used quite often.

My husband and I have remodeled multiple homes and I am the "engineered hardwood floor installer"...
My husband and I have remodeled multiple homes and I am the "engineered hardwood floor installer" in our family. I have easily installed over 10,000 sq feet of flooring using the Roberts Pro Pull Bar for Laminate and Wood Floors (Model #10-18-8). When I got the Roberts Pro Pull bar, I thought it was just for a single job/house. Well I am working on my third house and was frustrated with that pull bar which made me look for a replacement. The Roberts pull bar is not long and the area where you have to hit it to clip the board in place is not very tall. Well when I saw this pull bar, I immediately saw that it solved this problem. The area where you need to hit this bar is large and raised so easy to connect and you will not heed a ton of force. It comes with three magnets which can raise the bar the height that you need and can be combined to give a total height of 8mm. At first I thought the magnets might get lost, but they are really strong so I feel comfortable storing them on the pull bar.
I have not actually used it to install any hardwood flooring, but did use it to install 5/8" tongue and groove sub-floor and it is worth every, every penny!!! We had to install the sub floor towards the house so the last board was up against the house. This should of been very difficult to install and with the pull bar it was the easiest one to install. If I never use it again, I got my money's worth.
This pull bar is three times the cost of the Roberts pull bar. If you are doing tongue and groove sub floor up against walls, buy it. If I was installing flooring in a room or a single house, I would go with the Roberts pull bar. But if you are going to do more than a house or you just want to save yourself some frustration during installation, this is the pull bar to use.

A must have for flooring installs!
This is one of the tools that you don't use everyday (unless your a flooring contractor) but when you need it you definitely need it. There are ways around having this tool to pull in the floor planks near the walls tight but nothing as effective as a solid bar made for the task. Even if you have one room to do this is worth it to properly lock in the floor planks or pull them tight to nail or glue. You don't want to be putting on your base trim and notice you have gaps that are not tight then have to break it down and go buy this tool anyway. The tool itself is very straight forward, its solid steel bar with striker knob and felt pad on the bottom, and has a pry bar at the other end for additional uses. It has magnetic spacers to adjust the height per your flooring thickness and It gives plenty of room to strike with a dead blow mallet and not hit the wall.
Pro tip: Don't use a regular hammer or rubber mallet to strike with, You could damage the tool and flooring or bounce up into the wall after striking. Get a proper dead blow mallet along with this.

We have installed a lot of LifeProof vinyl plank flooring from Home Depot. The last row of flooring is always difficult to install because you can't get a hammer in between it and the wall. We have use a cheap flooring tool and it just bends when you hit it. So we were excited to get this heavy duty pull bar. It is adjustable to what ever size the thickness of your floor is. It comes with three different size magnets to use based on what floor thickness you have. We noticed using it that sometimes the magnets would fall off. So we just didn't use the magnets. The bar is definitely heavy. Not a tool you want to lug around all the time. Fortunately the last row or two is all you need it for. When you hammer on this one it's not going to bend. We have used it on two flooring jobs now and it really helped us out.

You can be stubborn and try to install a wood floor without the proper tools ... or you can do it the way the experts at FLIPz do it and get it done fast and looking great. This "blue monster" is really half of the tool combo that you will want to make sure your wood floor lays straight. The other half is a dead blow mallet (not a hammer and not a sledge). Used in concert, your time will be shortened and your floor will be straight ... the first time! It has a little crow bar on it that we seldom use, but it's a nice thought. It is solid and will last for a hundred floors. Consider this part of your required flooring tool set. There are no instructions, but if you need them then maybe you should consider calling a flooring contractor.

This pull bur looks nice and handy on pictures, but I don't like it at all. Yes, it's solid and durable. Yes, it has magnetic shims to adjust height to match floor thickness. I have no complaints about paint and general quality. But It's TOO HEAVY ! I'm not professional and I'm a woman. My hands become tired very fast working with so heavy instrument. Laminate flooring does not need brutal force, it needs gentle handling. Heavy weight of the bur is a huge minus while working with laminate. In my case an extra 1-1.5 pounds only increase chances of planks damaging. I bought another pull bar - much lighter and much chipper. It was holding up well, it made my work easier and it made my job quality better.

I wasn't really impressed with this tool, it is really well built and nice and solid but I think it is a bit to big and overkill for most laminate floor installations, however I do think it would work pretty well on thick hardwood floor installations. It does have some good features like the knob on the end that you can pull on or strike with a mallet easily and it has the puller on one end and on the opposite end it has a prybar, it is supposed to have 3 magnetic spacer to go under the end to adjust the height of it however mine did not come with them for some reason. Overall I think this is a good solid well built tool I just think it's a little to big.
