Designed for floor and wall use, it features elegant shades of blue and gray with a random variation to provide a chic look. The 12 in. x 12 in. tile features a textured, low-sheen finish and is highly skid resistant for versatile use in residential and commercial applications. With various sizes to choose from, install this exquisite tile to incorporate a distinctive personal signature in a wide variety of designs and patterns. This is a GREENGUARD certified Genuine Stone. Note: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer.

We like the result of our new bathroom floor. There are much more variations on colors , thickness and textures than I thought it would be. The crate crashed and cost some damages. The costumer service was great on returning and everything. We sealed it before installation. Overall I like the look of it. It brings down the bathroom a bit otherwise it could be too formal to my life style. The price is unbeatable. We used porcelain tile in same shape and color for our guest bathroom before we found this tile. The price tag is doubled. And I like this tile than the porcelain tile.

What a value!!!Searched long and exhaustive for a natural slate floor with 12"x24" tile size. Being in the high end residential construction industry for over 20+ years, I thought i knew all the best places to search for quality product. Little did I know that Home Depot would be the supplier of easily one of the top 3 floor projects I have ever completed. This slate is absolutely PERFECT! This floor is installed in my families vacation retreat where we were extremely particular of EVERY material and selection. This floor has far surpassed my expectation. First the actual material is thick, and cut beautifully. Far better quality thn ANY other slate floor we saw. Second the price was UNBELEIVABLE. Third, the delivery was perfect, super fast, packaged securely and ONLY $45 s/h!!! I thought surely a mistake, but not. After installed we put (3) coats of a semi-gloss natural stone sealer and the floor looks like a million dollars. I would not hesitate recommending this product to ANYONE!

I purchased these tiles for the floor in our screened in porch in April 2017. After searching for...I purchased these tiles for the floor in our screened in porch in April 2017. After searching for many weeks for a floor tile for our new addition, I stumbled on these tiles in a search. I went to my local Home Depot and purchased one tile, brought it home, and thought the color and texture were exactly what I was looking for. The best part is the price! I was thrilled to pay about $3/sq ft for what looks like a luxury tile. I purchased approx. 160 sq ft and the installer mixed the pieces from the different boxes. If you look at the photos, you can see variations in the color. It looks natural spread out across the floor. I absolutely love the finished look of the floor. Because this is a natural tile, there are many variations in color, the surface texture is rough, and the color changed slightly when I sealed it. It's a dark, smoky, blue grey. It's such a warm, neutral color that blends with the furniture and the outside.

Great productRead reviews for the Montauk Black tiles and was very impressed, but I was concerned because there weren't many reviews for the Blue which was what I was considering. I wasn't sure how much of a difference there was between the two other than color, so I purchased in good faith and was hoping for the best. I received the tiles in almost perfect order and was suprised at how nice they actually were. The color was a blueish-gray and only one tile had a corner broken. I purchased these tiles with the intention of cutting them like subway tiles, but I really like them enough to order more and use as flooring. Slate tiles are difficult to use as flooring because the cheaper kind (which is what i have) is very imperfect. They aren't all cut at the same thickness and most are not very smooth. These are perfect for flooring. They look more sandstone to me tho, but I love them. Have not installed these yet, but tiles like these are easy to cut, and since they are all square and the same thickness, they will be very easy to install.

HookedCouldn't be happier with the product. I really wanted Vermont milled slate for the color & cleft, but I chose this product for the value. I'm glad I did. You won't find a cheaper slate out there.
We ordered 1600 sqft for every room of our home (except 1, the office). We live in a mid-rise mid-century condominium and we wanted a stylish alternative to wood (which is a pain in the neck to glue down/rip up from concrete). This tile offered the period look we were shooting for, but with a modern edge. We laid it in a running bond with light grey grout. It looks awesome.
My only warning: seal seal seal before grouting. & clean grout IMMEDIATELY. Our contractor was great but still had a hard time getting the residue out of the stones clefts. Clefting is minimal with this product, but any crease will hide away grout until it dries.
Cleanup is easy, mop/bucket/woolite once a week or so.
Delivery was a breeze. We received 3 pallets without a single broken tile. They are heavy as sin. Be ready for heavy lifting.
My only complaint is that the tile doesn't come in a versaille or random pattern option.

We ordered this to see if the color would be right for our reimagined kitchen, as we were looking...We ordered this to see if the color would be right for our reimagined kitchen, as we were looking for a natural looking stone tile in the gray family. The color and texture were perfect for a kitchen, as the tile is quite slip resistent. The only real issue with the tile is that while it is slate, it does scratch fairly easily. We were looking for a very low maintenance flooring option for the kitchen, so putting in a material that would scratch easily wasn't optimal. Supposedly, after you seal it with mineral oil, a lot of the scratches become less noticeable, but we wanted something that didn't show any scratches at all. Also, the tiles are super heavy.

Great product. Good looking easy to work with.Great Quality stuff. Cuts sooo smooth. A great value at 2/3 the price charged by high-end interior supplier. There are variations in height but I was able to "carve" down the few problem sharp corners with a mat knife. A couple of the pieces arrived broken but not enough to warrant a trip to return and wait for a re-order. Out of the box the product is very plane looking but fantastic after a coat of sealer/enhancer. Small scratches or modifications (carvings) disappear with a swipe of the sealer. I highly recommend sealing before installing as slate is very porous and stains easily. Sealing before installation makes cleanup a breeze.
Note the product is 300mm x 600mm (which is actually smaller than 12x24 inches)
Also, HD does not sell a grout that matches this tile well. MAPEI charcoal siliconized sanded grout calking (sold elsewhere) is a PERFECT match. This stuff was needed as the tile was installed on a fairly thick bed of flexible mortar and rigid grouting would have cracked for sure. I have not tried the MAPEI charcoal grout powder yet.

blue vs blackAccidently ordered the blue slate. Note that the blue is the lighter of the two in the picture. We already had a 6x24 black slate installed in another room of the house (purchased from a different supplier). We returned the 6x24 blue for the 12x24 in black. I wet the tiles in the photo to give an idea of what a sealent may do to the coloring. The installed tile is black slate, and sample is the same black slate.
