TQ SilentSilver is easy to install, with integrated lip and tape for quick vapor-tight lap joint and can be glued on one and two sides or floated. Layers Amvic TQ SilentSilver meets code requirements for residential and high rise applications. The cushion layer improves sound and thermal insulation properties while reducing standing fatigue while the reinforced reflective FOIL middle Layer reflects heat back into the room in winter. The Low Volatile Organic Compounds V.O.C. prevents any off gassing.

This is the product to get if you could only get one underlayment. It costs more than others but is a better thermal and acoustic insulator and is easy to work with.

I bought this underlayment for our living room. It's over...I bought this underlayment for our living room. It's over the garage, and I could feel a draft coming from somewhere in the floor (I think) this past winter. We just put in laminate flooring, and thought that this product would help us keep out the cold.
We won't know if it really works in a cold barrier capacity until it starts to get cold, but it is definitely thicker than the foam underlayment we have used in other parts of the house. The only thing that I wasn't crazy about was the smell- kind of like cigarette smoke. Luckily we can't detect the smell through the laminate floor.
One other thing: Be careful walking on it with sneakers while putting down your floor. It rips pretty easily. We did one row of underlayment, covered it to almost the end before putting down the next row.

Condo requiredRequired by condo association for reduction of noise transmission. This product was available through Home Depot and fit the requirement. However Home Depot was not familiar with the product and could not recommend how to install it. Called the manufacturer for information and they recommended a different installation mefhod than the one supplied with the product. The product is easy to install but not really sure how it will hold up under ceramic tile. Hope it was the right choice.
