First time using these and i'll say i'm very impressed. I have a split level house, the living room/kitchen floor has a 4ft high crawl space underneath it. This crawlspace was not insulated, even the ducts did not have insulation. By the time the "hot" air went through the ducts in the crawl space to the far vents, it wasn't even "luke warm" air coming out.
I put these between my trusses against the subfloor. As these are pricey and I didn't want such a majority amount of heat coming from just the split floor and not going to the other 70% of the house, so I did it every other joist. I then put some Rockwell bats against those flush with the bottom of the joists.
All I can say is it's night and day difference. Not only that, but my furnace doesn't have to run nearly as much. The install is pretty easy. Though I would say anyone without basic DIY skills would likely have difficulty. Putting it in a crawlspace is very easy. However to install in an existing ceiling/floor would obviously be much more difficult. Talking removing drywall/insulation, putting this in, then redoing it.

If you're looking for underfloor heating for tile or glue down floors, this is a good option.
The heating mats themselves are very durable and have a very rugged layer of protection on top of them for the thinset or glue to stick to when you put down your flooring.
The only complicated part of the installation is the wiring. The heating mats themselves are very thin, and will fit effortlessly below any floor. The wires are somewhat thick and harder to fit. The instructions tell you as much as possible to put the wiring (and thermostat) next to a wall or trim, which is definitely the best way to go.
With the space I had (medium sized bathroom) I didn't really have that option, but leveled out the floor with thinset so that the tile would fit well even with the thick wires and thermostats.
This product does not include a thermostat, so you will need to buy one for each room or area that you wish to heat. They are generic, so as long as you match the voltage (120v or 240v) you can use any brand. You also have to install a temperature probe for the thermostat. I ordered an extra temperature probe to install under the floor just in case.
I routed my wires and taped them down, and then applied thinset. The floor was also pretty unlevel so I put thinset in other areas as well, although you generally do not have to level the floor around the mats. They are not thick enough to really have a noticeable effect once you put the flooring in.
The mats work well, but they do not heat up very quickly (just like any electric underfloor heating system). In my test with ~70 degree ambient air temperature and 64 degrees floor temperature, the floor heated up about 5 degrees per hour, so it took about 4 hours for the floors to go from ~64 degrees to my set temperature of 84 degrees. 84 degrees had a nice warmth to it, but was not hot. Setting the temperature too high (>90 degrees) is supposedly unhealthy for your feet and legs.
The other piece of advice I have is to cover your floors very densely with the heating mats. They only heat the floor directly above the mat. If you have 1 foot gaps between your mats, that gap will not really be heated. Take your time and install them well, as you do not ever want to tear the flooring out to fix them!
The mats can be cut every 4 inches or so. The installation manual tells you where you can cut them.
Overall, I highly recommend. Like any underfloor heating system, the installation is quite involved, but the results are worth it! This is a fantastic way to heat small places like bathrooms. If you are already putting new flooring down, its worth it to spend the little bit of extra time and money for underfloor heating, its a cheap way to gain a lot of equity for your home!

I had the opportunity to evaluate this easy to use radiant floor heat film. First I must say this works best with new construction since the electric, thermal sensor(not supplied) and thermostat (not supplied) must be to code for your area. Once the electric is properly set up this film goes down very well and very fast.
Final connection to previously installed point of service is straight forward. This film comes in several sizes and can be ganged together for local floor zoned heating or total floor heat. You then use your thinset directly over heat mat and set tiles according to your design making sure you use a plastic thinset trowel to help alleviate nicking the mat which may cause an electrical fault. It may sound difficult at first but your electrician does all the setup work. Things to watch out for..1. unstable floor.2. dirty floor.3.improper electric setup. Remember that once set to floor it will not be movable. Best of all this should last almost indefinitely when properly installed.

This is my third installation of this type of product. I really like how this works in making small spaces more comfortable in cold weather for pennies a day. This size was perfect for a half bath under a stairwell. It heats the floor by the sink and the toilet as well as the entire room when you keep the door closed. The peel and stick feature is a major improvement over the traditional unroll and weight down until it relaxes. You can lay this down, hook it up and install flooring over it the same day. Good stuff! Just be careful not to scratch it.

We live in an older home and have to deal with cold floors in the winter. When we remodeled the kitchen we really wanted to do something about those cold floors and this was the perfect solution.
It should be made VERY clear that this is only for new construction or a remodel since this product is placed between the subfloor and tile. It also requires wiring to a dedicated thermostat for the flooring in that room. You will definitely want to think long and hard about installing this, but if you do you will be very happy that you did.

I have been a builder remodeler for 48 years, and as such I have had many opportunities to instal a product like this 1.5 FT. X 60 IN. X 0.03 IN. 120-VOLT PEEL AND STICK RADIANT HEAT FILM FOR TILE AND GLUE-DOWN FLOORS (COVERS 7.5 SQ. FT.). I will often recommend this to my clients, as the comfort and low operating cost pays huge dividends in customer satisfaction.

I've installed the Heat Tech radiant floor heater under tile floors and although I like them, this peel and stick radiant heater is MUCH flatter and doesn't require being installed in a bed of mortar or in a bed of floor leveling compound. You do need to use a flatter thermostat sensor wire for the thermostat. Quiet Warmth has a sensor wire is smaller diameter than the Heat tech. Be careful when you lay the thinset so that you don't tear the film and always use a device like a Loud Mouth to make sure you don't break electrical continuity while installing your tile.
