Description

Cobblestone Plank 13/32 in. Thick x 5-1/2 in. Wide x 36 in. Length Cork Flooring (10.92 sq. ft. / case) - Product information

Cork flooring combines the beauty of a natural and truly renewable material with the comfort of a cushioned, warm and silent surface. It is highly sustainable since the cork oak trees are not cut. Only the outer bark is harvested and it will grow again each 9 years. The new narrow and beveled plank format creates a more appealing and elegant look than traditional cork floors that are made in large panels. Cork flooring is warm underfoot, comfortable and soft to walk on, anti-microbial, fire and moisture resistant and provides unrivalled noise reduction properties. Installation is made easy with the precision milled glueless locking system. This floor features an integrated underlayment made out of cork. Easy maintenance: simply vacuum. Prefinished cork requires no additional sealing after installation. Warm to the touch and resilient, cork floors are a great addition to your home. Ideal for all levels of installation. This floor qualifies for 4 LEED points: (1) EQ4.3 (Indoor Environmental Quality) Low Emitting, (2) MR 4.1 (Materials and Resources) Recycled Content, (3) MR 6-Rapidly Renewable Materials, (4) ID 1-Innovation in Design.

Beautiful Floor! Installation was pretty easy!
We love our cork floors. We have wood floors throughout the house and wanted something different in our kitchen and foyer. I have been doing a lot of research on flooring options for a kitchen and decided that cork would be right for us. We've only had the floors in for about a month and I must say I was a little neurotic about them the first couple weeks as far as water and traffic (our ktichen is a very heavy traffic area including a hyper large dog) but as I've seen it is much more durable than I thought initially. All I do is sweep it or dust mop it as needed. I called the manufacturer to ask them about cleaning and they recommended using a clean microfiber dust mop and spraying Bona wood floor cleaner on it and that would be sufficient. I would suggest putting coasters on table legs or any heavy furniture to prevent denting, I haven't experienced denting but I have read that it can happen on cork floors if weight isn't distributed evenly.

Man Cave Floor
I installed about 600 sq. ft. of the slate plank and it looks great! It is in my man cave, and I'm very happy that I chose this product. I can definetely tell a difference in the reduction of noise compared to the previous floor. I have two recommendations for people that choose this floor. It is pretty easy to install as long as you have patience. Take your time to figure out how the pieces fit and don't get in a hurry. After about 4 rows, it gets much easier and the rest of your project should fly. Secondly, it is crucial to make sure your floor is level. I installed over a plywood subfloor. I used leveling compound and sanded the edges. In a couple of spots I didn't make it perfect, and I can feel the imperfections in my floor. This would have been prevented if I'd have done a better job before I started my install....it's that patience thing again. I wanted my new floor in too bad! The floor looks great!

The description said they are 5 1/2 inches wide. But in reality the planks are 12 inches wide. This really threw me off. I know this isn't Heritage Mills fault but I used home depots calculator and it said I needed five boxes to do a room. I started laying the floor and only got halfway through and ran out of the flooring. Now my little special needs boy's bedroom is all over my house and he has no room right now and is very confused as to why he can't go to his room. I had the money for his floor at time I first ordered the flooring but now I do not. Now have have to wait for months before I'll be able to purchase more flooring and get my son back into his room. If you know anything about spesial needs children you know how difficult a problem this is. The flooring is nice though.

Great floor - not for kitchens or bathrooms
The cork itself is resistant to liquid spills if you clean them up reasonably quickly. We also clean this flooring with a wet mop. The problem is that the backing board isn't water resistant. When some amount of liquid sits on the cork long enough, it will penetrate through to the backer. We get some light splashing and drips on the floor near sinks and from the water dispenser on the fridge. The damage is permanent. The backer absorbs water and expands underneath the cork, causing the cork to become very uneven and "bubbled" in appearance.
Gorgeous flooring. Fit and finish are top notch. The beveled edges look great and hides gaps that are expected from humidity expansion and contraction. Easy to clean. Firm yet forgiving for toddlers playing on it. Quiet underfoot.
Recommend not to use in bathrooms, kitchens, or doorways where wet shoes are left to dry.

Disappointed
APPEARANCE
I love the looks of this product - rich, deep colour, great texture and feels great underfoot. I should note however that you need to get a sample - the image on the website is not a good representation.
INSTALLATION
This was a NIGHTMARE. The 'locks' are flimsy, a lot of them were damaged in shipping and even more broke as we were trying to install them. We have installed plenty of laminate 'pergo' type floors and this was a nightmare. In the end we had to start nailing it down because they simply would not lock.
IF WE HAD TO DO IT AGAIN?
While I love the floor and how it looks and feels, I wish we had sent this back after the first problems with the locks. I would have shopped around for cork flooring with better locks. Considering the price I paid I was very disappointed. I also worry about how long this floor will last since we had to improvise on the installation and nail it down and could not 'lock' all the gaps.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS FLOORING!
We purchased this flooring after talking to the salesman and getting reassurance that it would be fine with four kids and a dog. Not to worry about spills or anything like that because it was water resistant. After the first 6 months and several kid accidents we have bubbling all over the floor, the seams are warped. Every time water hits this floor it is damaged. We opened a claim and insisted on an inspector to come look at it, his conclusion was that our house was too humid... IN ALASKA?!? I told him all of the occurrences that happened to warp the floor, a spilled water, a puppy mess, etc all cleaned up within a minute of incident. The claim was denied. On top of that every piece of trim / transition strip is painted and if you use anything with wheels the paint comes off. Our floors are two years old and we are going to have to replace the entire house

a unique and fun eco-friendly flooring option!
The flooring is a BIT darker in person than online. I love that no trees were destroyed in the making of cork flooring. It joined together relatively easily, it cut clean for a softer material. A few pieces were dented in the corners when opened from the boxes....it might be helpful if Home Depot marked the boxes more noticeably for UPS to Handle with Care. The busy pattern actually makes the floor blend more seamlessly, believe it or not. And it is quiet and soft! A description or recommendation by Home Depot about sealing these floors might be helpful. (I actually just ordered an eco friendly wax based sealant online). I love the product comes with the underlay included on the backing. Durability to be determined, but it is in a medium traffic half bath.

Great product, installation is a breeze!
We decided on the cork flooring for over 500 square feet of living space in our home including a kitchen, dining room, and entry foyer. Bottom line, we wanted something attractive, quiet, and durable. I've installed a few laminate floors before, and this product was far easier to install than other products I've used. The locking ends can break easily if they are forced into place, much like any engineered flooring, but a little practice and the correct tools can eliminate that problem. I would recommend a good tapping block to adjust the planks into position and just working patiently with your hands. Otherwise, the seams match nicely, and the planks are easy to cut and trim. Most important, it looks great, my kids and dogs love it, and my wife is happy. Well worth the investment.
