EasyMat 300 sq. ft. 4 ft. x 75 ft. x 0.20 in. Underlayment for Tile and Stone - Product information

EasyMat is a versatile mat underlayment for setting tile and stone over any acceptable subfloor. EasyMat is so fast and easy to install because it is up to 25 times lighter than 1/4 in. (6 mm) backerboard, cuts easily with a utility knife, doesn't require any nails or screws and comes in a peel and stick version. The mat was specially designed so that the mortar locks in, creating a bonded crack-prevention system for subfloor movement up to 1/4 in. (6 mm).

  • Highest level of impact and sound reduction
  • No mechanical fasteners required
  • Up to 9 times lighter than other sound reduction mats
  • Will not shrink, rot or absorb water
  • Use as thermal break under floor heating systems

Underlayment was relatively easy to install. Time consuming, but easy to install. I'm not a tile pro and will not pretend to be; however, I will share what worked for me. When installing this underlayment, ensure you use a roller to press out air gaps. Rolling the underlayment will also ensure the mat adheres to the thinset (or whatever else you may be using to bond). If you do not roll the underlayment during installation you will have a rolling hills type effect and your tile project will look horrible. Use a roller, use a roller, use a roller. The picture shows the tile set into place on top of the underlayment. I used thinset to adhere the underlayment to the concrete flooring and to adhere the tile to the underlayment. My main reason for using the underlayment was to prevent (as best a possilble) tile movement in the event of concrete subfloor cracking/movement. Overall, this was a great product for our tile installation.
