I think I expected too much out of the product...
I bought this because I was putting up a backsplash and I knew I would have to cut some tiles to fit around the electrical outlet areas. I figured I could score them (using the scorer wheel) and then, when I pressed down, it would only cut along that line.
Notsomuch. What I really needed was a dremmel tool to be that exact.
Basically, the scoring only helped to ensure a straight line when the tile split. But- the problem was, I could not just cut out a little square out of the corner because once I pressed on the tile, it would break in a straight line- all the way down the tile. I feel like I'm not explaining this very well.
I guess, the point is that if you are going to need to split a tile in half or split it in a straight line, this is the tool for you. If you are going to need to cut the tile in more than one direction, use a dremmel, because this tool will split the tile all the way across in a straight line. The splitting doesn't stop where you stop scoring it. The scoring just helps to put the split where you want it.

Don't trust reviews! This worked better than anything else!
So after reading all the reviews about this tool breaking, I went and purchased a tile nipper for $20, a glass nipper (the one with two rollers) for $13, and a stone sanding block for $8. I began my project of installing glass mosaic tile. Both tools made the glass chip so bad, I had to buff them out and still wasn't perfect. It was time consuming and made a mess. Halfway through, I decided to go back to home depot and get this tool. OMG it's amazing!!!! As long as you score each piece in a straight line with pressure, you'll get near perfect cuts. The tool is cheap so if you're worried about it breaking (which it did not for me), buy two. Here is a photo of what took me literally 1 minute to cut 6 pieces. A MUST FOR MOSAIC GLASS TILES.

To hard to use, get the rail cutter for better easier cuts of floor tile.

Cheap and works
I used this cutter while installing a mosaic-sheet ceramic tile floor in our bathroom. The individual tiles are 2"x0.5" and I needed to cut them in half to fit at a wall. I made a jig that held a row of tiles(still on the backing) and allowed me to score a straight line with the carbide wheel. The wheel requires a lot of pressure to score well, so make multiple heavy passes. Depending on how you position the tile in the snapping mechanism, you get different bevels on the cut edge so be careful with the placement. I don't know how this tool would work on larger tile (probably just as well), but it works better than a wet-saw on small tile for sure. Also can't beat the price if you aren't going to use this tool often.

worth the $8
I used this tool to cut rectangle shaped glass tile (approx. 1" x 2"). It worked perfect for what I needed. Easy to use, score the tile with the roller (you don't need to make a deep groove to make it work), then place tile in between the plier part and plastic V part (with your score line in center) and then squeeze with a little pressure. It will break along your score line you first made. Don't buy it if you need to cut large tiles or have hard tiles such as porcelain (get a wet saw for those). Works great on small glass tiles. TIP: It works best if you are cutting the tile in half. It gets a little trickier if you try to cut off less than 1/2 the tile, but is do-able with a little effort. But DON'T try cutting the glass tile long-ways. You can do it but you'd get best results with a tile saw. For $8 well worth the money. If you use it right, you should have no problems. A 5 year could cut tiles with this.

so so
Having never tiled a thing in my life, I was excited that the first few tiles cut perfectly straight (although the built in edge did get in the way of lining up to my ruler for cutting). After the first few, the scoring wheel was not cutting well at all. I ended up going back to Home Depot to get a tile nipper (at an employee's recommendation) which worked better. As I only had a few rows of tile to fill in (repair job), I did not want to spend a lot on tools that would not be frequently used.
