This durable pre-finished solid real hickory floor is made of 3/4 in. Thick sawn solid wood and features mother nature’s naturally occurring beauty marks such as distinctive color variation, knots and mineral streaks. Plank length is totally random and varies based upon the yield of each tree. The aluminum oxide finish provides 10 times more abrasion resistance than ordinary urethane finishes. Vintage products may contain naturally occurring light and dark wood color and grain variations. Our flooring is proudly crafted from wood grown. Expertise and experience assure a beautiful, high quality floor. Our company has been manufacturing wood floors to exacting standards in Johnson City, Tennessee for over 110 years. Severely cupped after 4 months
There were a significant number of boards discolored with a stained look (very different from the dark to light color variation which is expected in hickory). I set them aside and had to buy another couple boxes to finish my 1500 sf first floor. The real issue however is after a 4-5 months we noticed the floor was cupped pretty bad. I installed the floor after the wood had been inside the house for 3 months, and the AC system was running during some of the installation, other days the windows were open. I have no understanding/explanation of what went wrong. I would recommenced not doing a whole house yourself. Its hard work and it might be beautiful when your done and then cup..... I am wondering if I ever sand it for refinishing if that will fix it....I have read companies used to store wood two or more years before using it to prevent this effect, and now they use kilns to dry it. SO maybe its not something I did... The internet had a million contradictory ideas about what causes this cupping, -I then I learned it happens to a lot of folks... It was a lot or work and expense for this result.

This product has a beautiful finish, but tne installation was difficult because of the varying widths of the boards.I was pleased with the finish of this product, but installing it was another story, especially when I got to the last few strips. The floor was advertised as 4" in width, but each of the eight boxes that I purchased had pieces that varied by 1/16 of an inch. This wasn't a huge issue until I got to the end of the project. With a limited number of pieces, I had difficulty avoiding noticeable gaps.

Nice flooring, large variation and several boxes of wasteWe loved the floor other than the demonstration pieces do not fully represent the color variation from sapwood to heartwood (maple like to dark oak). There were several pieces that were poorly cut or had to be discarded. Will check to see if we can return them. The finish is nice, and it seems to be a quality product overall but the mill could be a little bit better (not as good as say Bruce or Bellawood in accuracy)

Flooring is beautiful, you wont be dissapointed!We just purchased a new spec home and they were going to put carpet in the master. We wanted something other then the oak hardwood they did in the rest of the house. We saw the sample at the store and a few nice pictures here and were sold. The finished product (had builder install) was amazing. The flooring was installed in a 20x14 room and a big master closet in a morning. We didn't hear any complaints about sizes but they are proffesional installers so they are probably use to that. Did say they had very little waste in 19 boxes.

Do yourself a favor, buy something else.This wood looks good in the box, but is really a pain with inconsistent width & thicknesses. Only by a 64th, but oh what a pain. Happened with every box, and I bought 34 boxes. You get what you pay for. Calls to the manufacture didn't help. You would be less hassled to buy one of the other brands. This one is crummy!

Love ItHad professionally installed 1 year ago. Flooring is beautiful with all the variances in color. Have 2 Great Danes that have grown up on the floor and it still looks great. Easy upkeep.

I purchased over 20 cases of this product 2 years ago and loved the results. The variety in the ...I purchased over 20 cases of this product 2 years ago and loved the results. The variety in the colors made a beautiful floor. We had one more room that required another 10 cases which we purchased in January 2017. As soon as we opened the first box, I was immediately very disappointed as several of the boards had gray spots on them. We set these aside thinking if needed we would put these in one of the closets as a last resort. Unfortunately, each case we opened after that had boards with the same spots and ended up with a full case of them. I was ready to call Millstead with this complaint, but their warranty sheet stated claims must be processed through the distributor. Home Depot graciously took the case and ordered another case for me. I opened the new case at the store hoping for better results. The picture below is a sample of about 3 Sqr Ft in this case. I asked the Home Depot personnel if they had a phone number for Millstead so I could see if they would work with me in resolving this and I talked with Millstead's quality department. I told them my history with this product and how I was not happy with what we were getting now. I was informed that the spots were acceptable and some people liked them. I suppose if you are one of those rare people who like spotted floors that looks like the below picture than this is a product for you. Home Depot once again came through for me and purchased 2 additional cases in order for me to complete my floor. Out of those 2 cases I still had to pick through them to get the boards I needed. Would never buy more flooring from this company! Buyer beware!!!
