This was Home Depot’s Best !I would of given it a higher rating if I were able to buy the amount I needed and not be forced to buy a full roll. Was easy to work with! I like that it has a waterproof surface so that when I’m shampooing carpets, I know the wood floors aren’t getting wet!

Along with the luxurious carpet we had installed, it feels...Along with the luxurious carpet we had installed, it feels like you're walking on a cloud. The padding is very soft, not like the rubbery feel of other padding.

Great choice for carpet on a bare concrete padWe recently had HD's LifeProof carpet installed in our bedrooms and hallway and replaced the old style foam padding with this Prime Comfort padding. Since this padding offers moisture protection on both sides, it is a great option to stop the padding wicking moisture from the bare concrete floor into the carpet. Equally importantly it is comfortable to walk on and made our new carpet feel very luxurious.
Our home was built in the 40s as a hunting cabin and the concrete pad was built long before they used heavy duty plastic sheeting as a moisture barrier. Consequently the concrete can become damp, particularly in a wet El Nino winter, so the ability to use a combined moisture barrier/padding is a huge plus for us.
The padding itself seemed easy for the carpet installer to handle with very clean cuts with a sharp knife blade (with none of the 'tearing' you can get with traditional foam padding) and he stapled it to the concrete and vinyl tiles (which were the original flooring in parts of the house). Unlike the foam style padding we replaced, the Prime Comfort padding has a 'closed cell' type foam with a very consistent feel to it under foot.
There is also some added peace of mind that the surface of the padding has a built in layer of Teflon to protect it if anything is spilled onto the carpet.

Had to replace whole house. This pad breaks down after only a year of use. The inside turns into dust. Move your furniture and stand where you haven't walked and it's like a cloud. Stairs, walk ways, anywhere there is traffic. It's gone. The whole house is being replaced. Home Depot has done a good job of taking care of us on this. But I would not recommend this product. Unless you want to redo your house after a year or two.

Squeaky PaddingI had Home Depot install this padding in my living room and it squeaks ! The nice plastic like barrier prevents moisture from soaking in, but it squeaks as you walk on it. Home Depot has pulled up my carpet 4 times trying to fix the problem ( the noise is quite loud) but my only option is to replace it with a different product. It sounds like they just placed a layer of plastic under the carpet, it sounds very cheap !

Practically water-proof! This pad literally saved me thousands!I rarely leave reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience here. I paid a few extra cents per foot to get this padding since I was installing carpet in my basement and I was worried about the possibility of a water heater leaking, a backed-up drain, or other various possible ways a basement can take on water. Turned out to be the best investment I've made in a long time. TWICE in the past few months I had major water events in my basement. First, a window well filled with water until the pressure on the window became so great it broke the glass, sending 50+ gallons of water onto my nice new carpet. The carpet was literally submerged in water. The remediation company sucked up the water, pulled the carpet and pad back, and set up carpet fans above and below the pad. Except for about 1/4 inch on the edge of the pad, the pad was completely dry on the inside, even though water flowed above and below the pad. For that, I just took a towel and squeezed the ends and it dried in seconds. Within 24 hours, the pad and carpet were dry, saving any risk of mold. I once had a normal pad that got wet, and it acted like a sponge...there was nothing I could do but throw it away. The remediation guy that came with the fans said there would have been no way to save the padding if it was normal padding, and that if they tried I'd probably have lost my carpet too. He said it is a wonder insurance companies don't require this for all new carpet installations that they insure. The second water event was caused by an overflowing toilet, and I just rented fans from Home depot and took care of it myself. The original padding laid right back down with no evidence there was a leak. I would never install any other padding in my house now. Only thing I would recommend, is that if you install it upstairs, you might consider having the seams taped when it is put down. This way, you prevent spills from getting under the pad. It will just sit on top of the pad and you can suck it up with a wet/dry vac and not worry about it getting into the subfloor. Hope this review saves someone else an insurance claim. Oh, and it is extremely comfortable.
