disappointed
I am fairly disappointed with this flooring. After all of the great reviews I choose this flooring for its look and durability. We are installing this flooring right now through out our whole house and i have a ton of wood that i cannot use. Up to six boxes already I have set aside to return and we havent even layed down half. The mill work seem very good and havent had any problems fitting the boards together and I do not have any doubts about the durability....BUT the texture of the wood is horrible. So many boards are unusable because they have what look like black water spots all over of them and these bad boards are not just in one or two boxes but in almost every box we have opened. totally bummed and i dont know if I am going to have enough good boards to put down. I would like to now how this garbage even got into a box in the first place Once the good boards are layed down they do look beautiful though i would not recommend this product because of the hassle.

love it!We installed this floor over a year ago in 2 rooms. The main living room and my husbands office. the amount of compliments we receive is amazing, everyone loves this floor!
Part of the reason I chose hickory for our flooring was because in everything I researched it was the most durable wood that wasn't a rainforest billion dollar exotic. I have 2 dogs, a 102lb lab mix and a 62lb English bulldog. Even with their playing, dropping bones and running around my floor doesn't have a scratch!
My husband and I installed this alone, it was our first time doing hard wood flooring our only other experience was click-lock laminate. This was a million trillion times easier to install than laminate. After having done, this we bo th looked at each other and wondered why on earth anyone would install laminate!? We installed 500sqft with 2 people in 8 hours.
The amount of waste seemed reasonable to me, way less
than 10%. It's wood, it's not perfect.
In all this floor has proven to be worth every penny and then some. My only regret is that we didn't do the whole house.

Beautiful installed/great valueAfter comparison shopping for different hardwoods, we decided the greatest value was this sold hickory at Home Depot. Before we bought it, we researched on the Bruce website and decided it was right for us. We removed laminate and added additional hickory hardwood to cover a total of 1200 sq ft. What a project! But, worth every ounce of effort. We installed it ourselves without prior solid hardwood experience. Looked up a few "how to" videos and managed to figure it out. We ended up purchasing the nailer from Home Depot as well since we knew it would take us a a bunch of weekends to complete. We could not be happier with our choice of wood. There were some "warped" boards but for the most part we were able to nail them down. Also we had very minimal waste. We will end up returning 100sq ft since we bought extra to allow for waste. Overall, a great experience and a beautiful product.

Beautiful HickoryMy husband is a carpenter and he installed this flooring for our living room. I ordered 10% up from what we needed and it was a good thing because most of the boxes had a LOT of short pieces. The boxes should be a fairly good mix but I would say a few boxes were almost ALL shorts. Obviously this doesn't look as good and is more of a pain to install. By ordering 10% more my husband was able to pick through what he needed and in any case it is also a good idea because some boards can get damaged during installation or have a natural knot in the wood, etc. The flooring is beautiful though especially if you love the look of natural hickory. The wood is solid and does not have any laminate or pressed wood below the top layer (there are no layers) like other so called solid wood samples we looked at. This one is completely solid wood with a prefinished top. If you are unsure get a sample from your local store and compare it to the others. We found this to be a great deal for the quality of hardwood that it is and would highly recommend it.

This flooring was so crooked it all had to be returnedThe color of this wood is great, and we were very excited to see it in our new home. However, when our installer started laying it out in the room we were shocked to see how crooked, bowed, and poorly finished it was. All 24 cases of flooring are un-installable. Our professional installer said it was the worst wood he'd seen in 37 years. Not only was the finish flaking in places, but we'd put two pieces down together, and by the end of the length they'd be diverging by 2 inches or more. Pieces that looked straight were so warped they didn't lay flat, but teeter-tottered on their waist.
Kudos to Home Depot customer service for accepting a return on all of the flooring. However, we now have to live in a house without floors until we can get new wood, get it acclimated, and schedule an install. I'd recommend that anyone considering this flooring ask for a quality check and have the install-ability of the wood guaranteed.

The flooring itself is great. I previously installed it throughout my house, but needed an additional box to finish my latest project.

This Flooring is UNREAL!! Cozy beautiful hickory!! WOW!We researched and researched. Visited so many flooring dealers but could not find what we wanted - a natural random beautiful wood floor. I found this on-line and immediately knew this was IT! Price was great - very little waste - as our boxes were opened it became even more beautiful.
My installer kept telling me - I think this flooring gets better looking the more I lay it. He was amazed as were his helpers. We installed 44 boxes. Kitchen/family room/hall. Easy to clean. I would HIGHLY recommend if you like the random look. We actually like the 2 1/4" as it allows for more variation than the wider options. Makes a very interesting floor which has become a conversation piece in our home. Thanks HD!

Great Looking FloorThe color is a little darker than the sample picture, but I put in 700 square feet in a living room, dining room and kitchen. There were no problems, a few crooked boards that straightened out when wedged and nailed in. I have only had positive comments in how it looks. Make sure you open multiple boxes many have a lot of long pieces many have shorter pieces. You can avoid a lot of cutting if you are patient and find that piece that fits your opening it will save a lot of waste.
