This is a follow up to an earlier review in which I shared my install experience with this flooring and initial thoughts. Nearly 18 months after the install I am still very pleased. I installed this myself in my seasonal lakeside cabin. The cabin is located in northern Minnesota and its not heated or used in the winter and there is no air conditioning in the summer. This flooring is therefore exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 to +80 degrees with periods of very high humidity in the summer. The flooring still looks as good as the day I installed it. My fears that there may be some buckling or swelling have not been realized, which is amazing given the 100 degree temperature swing. This is in a bedroom and adjoining hallway that do not get a lot of traffic so I can't comment as to its durability in high use areas. Everyone who sees the floor comments on it's good looks. I remain happy with this purchase and continue to recommend it to others.

Beautiful coloring
Installed this a few weeks ago and so far couldn't be happier. This looks much better than my old floor, and is holding up really well to hustle and bustle of 2 big dogs and 2 cats. Easy to clean, easy to install, wonderful floor.

Very nice floor.
I would like to share my experience in hopes of helping others considering this flooring. This was my first time taking on a flooring project although I am probably an above average skilled amateur woodworker/carpenter. I am also thrifty which was somewhat to my detriment.
First consideration is how much to order. I needed 9.25 cases and ordered 10 which is a tad below the suggestion of ordering 10% extra. While awaiting the shipment I received a call that one case was damaged so a replacement was ordered. When I got the order I found they were not packed very well and instead of one damaged case I found the bottom piece of five cases damaged. Home Depot allowed me to swap out the damaged pieces from the previously reported damaged case. My suggestion is to order at least a spare case in anticipation of some shipping damage. In the unlikely event there is no damage you can always get a refund on the extra.
Next I read and reread the instructions as well as watched the installation video. The instructions and video both highlighted the method of angling each piece into the previous piece. I noted on the video they had a difficult time with this method in keeping previously laid pieces tightly together. Sure enough after struggling with my first three rows I found each subsequent piece angled in disrupted others and I was constantly working back to close gaps. I reread the instructions and than noticed at the end a brief discussion of the alternative tap method. Here you lay the piece flat and tap it into place. This worked very well and had the added benefit of each tap further tightening previous rows. I used a rubber mallet and found most pieces went together with a gentle tap. If it needed more muscle I used a scrap piece as a block. I did not damage a single piece using this method. USE THE TAP METHOD.
Trying to save a few dollars I did not buy spacers to keep the flooring the appropriate distance from the wall. I had numerous pieces of 3/8" plywood handy and I used that. Big mistake. As it turns out my plywood was warped so my gaps varied from 3/8" to 5/8" which created problems with my 1/2" base trim covering the gap ( I did not wish to use quarter round).
As you are laying the floor step back on occasion and look at your random pattern. If you don't you may find it's not as random as you would like. I ended up with two identical pieces next to each other, fortunately the bed will be covering most of it. Also as you lay each row keep an eye on previous rows as gaps can arise. If you catch it soon enough, usually a tap or two will correct the problem. If you wait to long its difficult to close gaps that exist several rows back.
Like most projects there is some trial and error involved. I feel if I had to do it again I could lay this floor in a day. As it was it took me two days to do a 9'X10' room with a closet and small adjacent hallway. The results are very nice and I would highly recommend this flooring.

The flooring went together nicely, really nice quality compared to previous laminate flooring I’ve installed. I was only gonna put the hickory pergo in our living room but ended up installing in both my kids rooms also because it’s so durable

Pergo Floor
This floor looks fabulous in our great room we just added on to our home.It works well with the other woods we chose for the room. We own a basset hound and the floor is tolerating her nails well, no scratches. The only concern I have is getting the steaks out when cleaning the floor. I am going to invest in a hard floor steam cleaner and hopefully that will do the job.
It is a lovely floor and everyone who has seen the room remarks on the beauty of the floor first thing. It is the natural hickory.

it works as advertised
This product is relatively easy to install if you watch all of the Pergo YouTube videos before you start. We did not watch them and we had to re-install the first few rows three times. Make sure you buy a Roberts Pro Pull bar. It makes the installation much easier. The short scraps that you create from cutting the boards can be used as spacers, as they are 10mm / 3/8th in. thick.

Looks great.
We replaced our old HDX laminate flooring with this flooring.. We had the old floor for 13 year never had a problem... this floor even sees a drop of moisture and it puckers like crazy at the seams. If you have pets or kids, do not buy this flooring.
