I Used this product under a nail-down 3/8" engineered oak floor. I was using a Lumber Liquidators feather step product which was a stiff compresses fabric, which I can't get now but makes a nicer, "softer" finished product than using felt paper. Using an underlayment, the floors are quieter and feel warmer (my imagination maybe?). The issue with choosing the correct underlayment is the stiffness and compress-ability of the product as I'm using nails and can't have them popping, unlike whats acceptable in a floating installation. This 1/8" cork more than filled the bill. In my installation, going over a plywood sub-floor, a moisture barrier was not needed. This cork is very easy to work with, easy to cut with shears or a utility knife, rolls out very flat and has the stiffness I need for the install.. couldn't be happier with the results! I am 2/3 through the job (new hardwood through the entire house) when I started using the cork and wish I had found it at the beginning! It would be nice if HD would stock it however, as I need to order it online.

Excellent! Non toxic and eco friendly
The cork underlayment was perfect. It was used under a laminate wood plank click and lock flooring. The professional installer we hired had never used it before but was very surprised and pleased with how easy it rolled out and stayed in place without any gluing or tacking down. It was just: roll out, trim, then lay the planks. He had only worked with the common (toxic and synthetic) types of underlayment in the past and said those are much more difficult to work with.
The cork makes the flooring quiet and cushiony underfoot and seems to be somewhat insulating. Once winter rolls around I'll have a better idea, as the room it is in sits above a bare ground crawl space with no insulation. It definitely leveled out the imperfections found in a home built in the late 1800s.
I personally love that it is eco friendly, natural, and non toxic especially compared to the commonly used synthetic underlayments which are full of petrochemicals and other toxins. The cork underlayment does not have any chemical smell. Great for a clean air and hypoallergenic environment. Plus it is naturally antibacterial and insect pest resistant.
Super happy with my purchase and will be using this again for the flooring in a rental property.
If you are unsure about trying it, take the chance you'll be happy you did. Non toxic and healthier options are always worth the money.
