Disappointed with Home Legend
We ordered almost 1000 sq feet of Brazilian Teak and received some boxes that were labeled as Brazilian Cherry in error. After looking at the teak it was more prominently grained than we expected so we looked at the cherry boxes and found the wood looked the same. Now we didn't know what we really had. In calls and emails with Home Legend we were told we would be sent a larger sample of the teak to compare and that the cherry was probably cherry and the teak was probably teak according to the box labels. The model numbers were different, but the UPC numbers/bar code was identical on all the boxes, both teak and cherry. We never got the sample and Home Legend said they couldn't send someone to look at the wood to make sure we had teak. Home Depot suggested we return the wood and reorder it. The wood is beautiful and we'll probably put down the wood from the teak boxes, but I have no faith in Home Legend and that we definitely have teak. If we do put it down, we'll report about how it went and how it wears. The photo attached has a board from the cherry box on the left and the teak box on the right. You can see how they look alike.

Beautiful wood, lots of grain but some inconsistancies in product from box to box
I picked up 20 boxes of this material as a special order from the store in order to do a hallway and the master bedroom. It was not the first time I had done nail down hardwood flooring, but was the first time I used prefinished material.
This wood species has quite a bit of variation in color and grain. You find that a lot with the South American woods like Cumaru and Jatoba. In the box were variations from relatively light boards similar to oak, many of a medium color like a mahogany and some very dark boards that were almost ebony black. The light and dark boards were not nearly as plentiful as the medium toned boards and they help to give the floor some interest, but you don't want too many of them either. I pulled out all the darker boards and put them in the closet so they are not all that visible day to day.
The other issue I came across was length of the boards. Previously I had put down about 700 sq ft of unfinished jatoba or Brazilian Cherry. All those boards were 3' long each, a nice length to work with. In most of the twenty boxes I got, the average length was probably 12 to 18 inches, with a few boards at 24 and maybe 2 at 30" or 36" . Maybe there would be one board at 4 or 5 feet long in a box, that was it. Fast forward to the end of the job and of course I was short. I ended up ordering 2 more boxes about 2 months later. When I got the boxes home I was really surprised in that I had mostly long pieces in there, a couple over 6 feet in length. And while the original order boxes were all on the very short side, both of these two boxes were really long. That tells me that they don't strive for a consistent mix but let the length vary over each production run, probably dependent on the lumber they have on hand to mill.
I did mention this was the first time I have used prefinished lumber. While it can save you lots of time sanding and finishing, you have to be careful because it is VERY BRITTLE. A hard sharp metal edge will cause a nice scratch in the surface that is very noticeable. And forget face nailing it with a gun, it is very hard and the nails do a good amount of damage to the finish that has to be patched with some gloss varnish after the job is done.
Overall I am satisfied with the floor, even with the inconsistencies, it makes for a very pretty floor. Time will tell how well the surface wears, in two months the hallway still looks pretty good and it gets lots of traffic including two dogs. The price is more than competitive and you can get a discount in multiple ways from the store.

Excellant quality, wide color variation.
Used this for my 250 sq ft family room that gets heavy traffic.
Would have rated 5 stars but the colors were much lighter than I expected based on store sample. Only one board had a very minor defect which made the installation relatively pleasant.
This wood is very hard - no issues for my floor nailer, but my regular one could not penetrate this deep enough. Started/ finished the job by drilling and hand nailing - time consuming, but worked out fine.

i'd only had this install about 2 months, i am please with my selection. I looked at several exotic hardwoods and like this
the exotic brazilian teak is beautiful, solid and exudes a soft elegance. It was the right choice for me, brings out the tones of my living room and dining furnishings. I could not have made a better selection. Friends and relatives are really impressed and rave on how the flooring changed the total look of my already beautiful home.

do not look at pictures
This is hard and durable, thus 1 star. However the box I bought had brown, tan, red, black, cherry, washed white, end grain, side grain, long grain, short pcs 12 in and 24 in. If you like a busy floor this will be great. I expect natural products to have variations. However, reviewed installation and product pictues are wildly different than what I was shipped.

Love this product but we were shipped wrong size
I really love the color variation and look of this product. We've been buying this a little at a time as we do each room. Unfortunately, the quality control at Home Legend must be bad. The last two shipments I received were 3 5/8" wide instead of 3 1/4" wide. We couldn't use that since we are in the middle of laying flooring in our great room and needed the 3 1/4". Home Depot doesn't even carry that size. Still waiting to get the correct size and living in a house that is all torn apart. Not fun!
