not very satisfied
Too many short pieces of wood. Three or four warped pieces per box. The milling of the tongue on some boards have tongues missing. Tounges split easily when stapled to the subfloor. I don't know if this will cause waves in the floor later on. The product inspection is not very thorough from the manufacturer. I was short one box and ordered another one. I sent it back because of the damage it had received during shipping. The box had been broken open and taped back together. The flooring had rubbed together and was scratched badly. I will have to try again. The other rooms I do will be unfinished wood and have a much better looking finish applied and no small beveled edges between boards to collect dirt.

We bought 46 boxes of Bruce Solid Hickory hardwood flooring. I saw another comment/complaint about length of boards and wanted to give more info. We have opened 8 boxes and sorted the pieces from these eight boxes by length. See picture. Most boxes had at least one piece over 5 ft long. There were a total of 13 pieces longer than 6 ft; 35 pieces between 5 and 6 ft long. One box alone had 6 pieces over 5 feet long. One box didn't have any piece over 3 feet long. Shortest pieces were 11 inches (17 of those). So bottom line is: if you are only buying a few boxes, you may get stuck with lots of short pieces. But overall, the distribution of lengths in these 8 boxes will work for us since we don't have an abundance of long rooms or hallways to cover.

Great product! We just put down 360 square feet living room floor. My 21 year old son did the installation- his first experience with this. Some guidance was needed by my husband to make sure the first few rows were straight- but most info was learned watching youtube video!
The small width, 2 1/4 in, takes time to do. Larger width would go faster- but the overall look of the floor is amazing!!! This Mom is soooo happy! I want to order more to do another room, but just found out it is out of stock right now. The price was exceptional.

I keep receiving boxes of returned scrap. If I'm lucky, I get 5 usable short pieces per box... and I mean someone smart returned their unwanted scrap pieces, and the manufacturer sent them all to me! Now, I did order one and two boxes as they came available during the sale... I guess they were sending me those returns. Really, really, bad. (However, if you CAN get the manufacturer to send you a newly manufactured box of this normally expensive product, you can expect to be happy with the color of the wood.)

Great product for your home
I wish there was enough floor space for HD to showcase all the great products they also have on-line. You won't find this Bruce product at their store but it is a quality hardwood flooring that is durable (hickory) and looks great. I also purchased the 2 1/4 to alternate the design.

We installed this hardwood over the course of 1 weekend in our living room, which included taking out the old carpet, padding, and a small section of tile. We placed just under 300 sq ft of the hardwood. I purchased a used flooring nail gun that shoots cleats and it worked great, ensuring an accurate hit in the groove and helping to push the pieces together nice and snug. The wood was good quality with a variety of lengths. We didn't have too many that had cracks, wrapping, or other defects that we needed to discard so we had very little waste. We think the color is great and it went in well. I would recommend this wood for other. All our friends have commented on how beautiful the wood floor looks as well. We had a Floor Muffler underlay which seemed to be high quality as well, but more expensive than other alternatives.

Great product. Purchased on sale at about $3.70 a sqft. Most boxes had long strips. Some boxes had only short strips that must be intermingled with the long strips or used near end of run. Overall very please as strips are nice and straight without warping.

Great looking floors. Nearly all of the planks have been usable. Only downside- it's hard to match our unfinished oak stairs to this color flooring. I ended up using Varathane's Red Mahogany (3 parts) and Varathane Carrington (1 part) to come close.
