Scratches too easily
This flooring scratches very easily! The installation went well (no scratches, perfectly installed without walking on the flooring), but as soon as we started using the room, the floor has suffered an unbelievable number of scratches. The regular hardwood floors in the rest of our house (which is from the 50s) and the stair treads (which I installed and finished with polyurethane at the same time as I installed the Millstead floors) have a million fewer scratches than this one room!
Whatever they are using to finish the surface of these boards is not at all durable; in fact, a basic polyurethane would be far better. The only saving grace is that the floors can be refinished, so when we do that it will finally last--the only thing keeping me from tearing them up and installing a better quality floor.
If you don't believe me about this, take one of the scrap pieces that they give away at the Home Depot and take a ball point pen and write your name on the surface -- It will etch right into it, as if you were writing with a chisel in balsa wood.
Good luck!

Great floorWe combined a kitchen and living room into one great room, and used the Hickory flooring to tie it all together.
This brand has plywood layers, which is good for kitchens. It was laid at an angle, which really gave the room interest. This was done this way because it's an older house and the rooms aren't square, and laying it at an angle hides that. My husband said it was easy to install, it's easy to clean, and I love all the variation. Make sure you open 3 or 4 boxes at once, because some boxes have all dark pieces and some all light pieces, and it helps to really mix it up. The color goes with everything..we have knotty alder cabinets, oak table, another hardwood maple floor, oak doors, it just goes with everything. There were no random lengths, so I'm not sure why it's advertised that way. I do think more random lengths would have helped make the floor look less....manufactured. We installed it over an existing 1950's wood floor, and a linoleum kitchen floor. We have dogs and kids and I haven't seen any big scratches. I had checked out flooring stores...too expensive. And yet this floor was better quality than most other mid priced floors. Free shipping is great, and definately order more than you think you will use. You can return unused boxes to the store, which is very helpful, especially if you use the Home Depot credit card. I am very happy with this floor.

Tarkett Wood Flooring RocksThis real wood is gorgeous and very well made. Probably one of the best engineered real wood floors I have seen and is easy to install as long as you respect how tightly the locking edges should be fitted in order for it to get a good "snap". The color varies from dark chocolate to very blond "maple" and the boxes are randomly packed with mostly long lengths to very mixed lengths of longs and various shorter lengths, so it is best to open a number of boxes at any time in order to keep the randomness of the colors and lengths.
Very good quality, hardness & color - I highly recommend this product to anyone interested in real wood planking!

Good product, reasonably pricedThis is the second floating wood floor I've installed. This product was a little bit harder to install than the previous one (thomasville), more pressure and care required to get the boards to click together. The finished installation looks great; seams are tight and the overall finish is very nice. Floor is very flat and relatively quiet when walked on. Very little warping on the boards and any warp disappeared when clicked in place. Highly recommend spending extra for the AirGuard 3-in-1 underlayment; makes the installation much quieter.

improved the look of our home!ok so here is situation...you NEED a rubber mallet to complete this flooring job. My husband and I installed around 700sq/ft. we are new to click flooring and only read the instructions before install. The first 5 rows were VERY difficult to lay...then we discovered that tapping the board in at a 45 degree angle with a rubber mallet, followed by several strong blows to the top of the board with the mallet was the perfect way to accurately set each board. From there on out it was a quick and easy install. The instructions really should have told you that a soft rubber mallet was going to be your best friend when installing this wood. There was a little popping and creaking after install, after a month or so this goes away as the boards settle into the space. It has scratched a bit, we have a 90 pound lab. I feel that is par for the coarse with hardwood though. Overall we are thrilled with the wood. It has made our 1000sq/ft first home look so much bigger and brighter:) we love also that it is made from wood harvested and manufactured in the USA!!

Extremely pleasedThe floor has only been down for a week or so, so it is hard to give 5 stars for quality and value, but if it holds up as it has, they would be 5 stars too.
Installation was a breeze and this was my first floor, I am a novice DYI. I did find a kit at the other big box store that had a rubber block for knocking the boards into place, as well as spacers, and a bar with a lip for tight installations-couldnt have done the installation without these items.
Looks incredible, LOVE the variations in colors, I pulled from multiple boxes as others have said. Purchased a table saw (Dewalt), already had a chop saw and jig saw. -These items are essential. Got a dewalt multi-tool for Christmas, that was a huge help with door frames and such.
My kitchen floor was not level though, we are on a concrete slab, had to put two 50lb bags of level quik to get the floor a bit more level, probably could have used two more bags, but I was afraid of raising the floor too much for the D/W and Fridge-wanted to ensure they were able to come out of their respective cabinets.
Highly recommened this MADE in USA product! Tried, Lowes, and Lumber Liq, so glad I went with HD!

Worst flooring I have ever purchasedI couldn't be more disappointed in a product than this floor. Since It was installed, I have noticed numerous scratches and dings. Every little thing that touches the floor leaves a scratch. I cannot believe that a floor I paid $4.39 a sq. ft. has quality of a $1.00 a sq.ft. floor. I replaced a cheap laminate in one of the rooms with this flooring and that cheap laminate held up better than this floor ever will. I have had it down only a week and want to rip it up, if it wasn't for the fact I would be out all that money. I won't even let my dog play in the house now, because I am afraid this terrible floor will mark up even more than it already has. I would never recommend this floor to anyone. Cannot believe you call this an engineered hardwood. I shouldn't have to be afraid that everything that touches this floor will leave a mark but I am. Only thing I liked about this is the appearance.

This product is beautiful once installed. My personal opinion and the opinion of the installer of the flooring was that it went down quickly and set together without headache. The finish is delightful and beautiful. We chose Hickory natural. Our flooring has a cork underlay to silence the traffic which is over a basement and worked wonders. The flooring slipped together nicely and stayed together, looks and feels like real hardwood. We ordered our flooring along with the door strip and it came in good condition and with great speed. Our UPS man carried each box into the room and only one box had an open end flap, but none of the flooring was damaged. There was very little waste, am sure that was due to product and the installer also. He had never laid this brand before and was very pleased with our choice. We love to come to the door and just view the finished product. We laid the flooring in our office/guest bedroom. Will be a very useable room for many years to come. Was able to return one unused box of flooring to a nearby store without a problem. Very reasonably price materials to complete the room. Customer service and shipping were superb. Thanks for making the project a fun and desireable one. Flooring looks sharp, feels good on the bare feet, and has no squeeks and groans. Beautiful finish.
