This durable prefinished engineered real maple floor will enhance the value of your home. The flooring is crafted of five layers of solid wood permanently bonded together in a cross-ply design. Very Nice Flooring
Overall, I am very satisfied with this flooring. The finish and fit is excellent and the wood is a very high quality. I decided to staple the floor instead of floating or gluing; rented a floor stapler from HD and it worked out well. I used a felt pad underlayment over a 1/4" luan panel to even out the subfloor irregularities. Doing it again, I would have just used a 30lb roofing felt instead of the felt pad since the floor is slightly 'squishy'. Millstead includes some starting pieces, however, there are no short pieces included in the packaging; you need to cut your own to stagger the install which is fine. I mixed six cartons of flooring and the subtle shading differences are very nice.
Bottom line: I would make this purchase again.

Absolutely No Color Variation, Purchased for the VariationAfter reading the first review and looking at the photograph this seemed like the perfect aesthetic we desired. To be sure, I also looked at the samples on the Millsetad website, and called Millstead and spoke to a nice gentleman for at least 20 minutes about the color and characteristics of this wood. Hand-scraped was one of our priorities, but the most important characteristic we wanted was color variation between the pieces of wood. We flew in from outside the US to install this wood in an investment property on our vacation. The tight renovation and travel timelines made getting the right product a necessity. I did hours of searching before choosing this wood for the value, hand-scraped texture, and most of all the interest of color changes in the wood. What we received is 7 boxes of a monochromatic product that reminds me of 1970's paneling (almost chocolate brown with black along the edges). Hubby did 60% of a 17 X 10' room down in 1/2 a day and says installation is smooth. Quality of actual product seems good. We are builders/ designers and have laid a number of floors ourselves, no issues with unusable pieces. There are a lot of short pieces, but not problematic with our room lay-out. There was no time for us to return and order another product, which is why I called Millsetad prior to ordering to ensure that the visual representations on Home Depot's and Millstead's website were accurate. The gentleman at Millstead even said he had a sample floor in the area behind his desk, and it was the product that garnered the most interest at Trade shows. He described the product as being variegated, and I do believe the product he was accustomed to had the qualities we were looking for. Apparently the product color has since been changed. For the color, and lack of visual interest I am sick to have spent any money on it at all. Walking in the room and looking at this extremely boring solid color wood floor at over $5 a sq foot literally makes me want to cry. If you are looking for a monochromatic, slightly warm chocolate brown tone with minimal color character, then you might be happy with this product. The hand-scraping is quite linear, as the first reviewer described. It would look nicer if the scraping pattern were more irregular. It almost looks machine scraped due to the regular repetition of the pattern. You see the hand scraping when looking down the wood, but very little when looking across it.

Excellent quality and absolutely beautifulWe installed about 2300 sq feet of the flooring. In all five bedrooms and the living room / dining room. We bought the 1/2 inch thick product. The product consists of five equal layers of wood, making the top maple layer about 2.5mm thick. This is plenty. It is solid and feels great.
We used an experienced installer. If you do not want to or cannot install 100% solid wood, then this type of flooring is almost if not as good as solid wood. Don't go cheap on the vapor barrier. We used the Black Jack product. Things to consider: Remove your trim and replace with new after the floor install. It will look great! Floating for slab type houses works very well.
All in all we are extremely pleased (and my wife is the daughter of a house builder!).

Love the look of this floor!We ordered the floor on line and received it at our home in about three days. Shipping was free and the turn around was excellent. We purchased 37 boxes and had to return 6. We returned them to the store and were issued a credit on our charge card with no problems. The only slight complaint I have is that there were not enough short pieces in the boxes. Several boxes were all long boards, but we were able to cut a few and work around this issue.

This product has a rich beautiful appearance.The flooring looks beautiful in person. It is a nice rich color with more modern size plank width. I like the distressed finish, maybe even wish it was a little more distressed to hide scratches. Love the ability to refinish years down the line.

Handscraped maple spice 5" x 3/4"This product is not consistent with the picture online or with the actual samples they have at the store. There are very noticable variations in color from dark to light. There is also "waviness" to the wood that makes it look unnatural and odd. The overall color is a nice shade and does match the picture & samples, however the variation can ruin the overall look. I would suggest opening a box and laying out several pieces before installing any wood floor, as I only looked at 2 peices and half of the floor was installed before I looked again, or I would have returned it.

This product looks so rich!I installed this flooring last weekend in just a matter of hours and it looks wonderful. The color is warm and inviting and the installation was very easy. I plan on replacing all the carpet in my house with this same wood soon.
