This hardwood is not as expensive as some other choices. I expect that is why there are many pieces of wood that are unusable. During installation, it is good to have a long metal level to place next to the pieces. Some boards are slightly bowed and can be straightened as nailed, but some are not worth the effort. The finished floor definitely shows a few places where the boards weren't perfect. Overall it looks ok. I was able to piece together 3 cases of wood from 12 to be returned for defects. Many boards come without tongues or barely a tongue. boards also come without the bottom portion of the groove if the cut was on a bark line that falls off. I only stuck with this brand because one room was already completed in it. Like I mentioned, patience and willingness to be picky selecting boards to use will pay off. I did like that the wood is pre-finished. No sanding, staining or varnishing. One room has floors that are 2 years old and look just as good as the new ones.

Would recommend this product
I just installed 400 sq. ft. of this flooring in my family room and adjoining dining area. Like the other reviewer, I use my finish nailer on the starter row and the last two rows. I also used a bostitch flooring nailer which made the job much easier. I found that the planks dented much easier than I had expected, so use the flooring nailer with caution. There was a slight variation in the widths of the planks but the flooring nailer was able to pull them together in most cases. When I noticed this difference in width, I checked each plank before nailing it in place. With careful inspection of the planks and taking care to how I laid out the flooring, I was able to minimize the waste and only ended up with less scrape to fill a five gallon bucket with pieces less than four inches long. Like the other reviewer, it would be wise to open several boxes, lay the pieces out on the floor in piles of the same lengths so that you can select the lengths to install the flooring with the correct separation between joints. I am 71 years young, with a bad back, wrist, and two knees, and I didn’t have that much trouble and I accomplished this project in three days.

Purchasing 1800 sq ft. to do the entire home, we had a professional install the flooring. So far out of 75 cases of flooring we have returned/exchanged 21 cases due to worm holes, no tongue, not the same wood, bowed, and not the same height or width (off enough to create gaping or to visibly see raised wood) . Even though this was a huge frustration for us the finished product is beautiful.
Home Depot was great with any returns and exchanges we had concerning this product.
As long as your willing to sort through multiple boxes and several trips to the store the finished product is worth it.
I will update the review when we finish the last two rooms and post pictures.

What you read is true
Get at least 20% extra. I bought this about 4 years ago (it's been a long process with my house) and I'm very glad it's still produced as I need about 3-4 more boxes. I remember throwing away a lot of this stuff. I had to use a wedge and a 2x4 screwed into the floor whenever I came across a board that was warped. I had to hammer and nail the heck out of this stuff. This is the only way to be able to use 80-90% of the boards in the box. It turned out awesome, but be prepared to really work to make this turn out perfect. It's not impossible, but again you save money on the product and of course the labor is where you'll get killed.
After 4 years, the only problem I have had is that the washing machine exploded and ruined about 30-40 sq/feet of it. It actually happened twice. The first time the wood went back to flat, the 2nd, no such luck! I think that's pretty good. The only real problem I have with it is that the dogs (boxers) really took a toll on it skidding around corners trying to lick the mailman.
All that said, buy it (and 20%+ extra) and get ready to wrestle with it.

Oak Saddle 3/4 x 3-1/4 Solid Hardwood Floor C1117
I purchased 25 cases of this flooring to do my master bedroom and closet. I helped my brother do a small bedroom in the past, but this was my first time doing it all myself. The finished floor looks great. I used my finish nailer on the starter rows and the last rows. I rented the bostitch flooring nailer from HomeDepot and it works great. I highly recommend this tool. There were a few blemished pieces in each box, but less than the 10% I was told to expect. Some boxes were mostly long pieces and some were all short pieces so I recommend opening several boxes to use random lengths. The only thing I would do next time is inspect each board closer and cull out the blemishes. I plan to do several more rooms in my home with this product, so I definitely recommend it. Happy Flooring!

Overall the floor went down well and looks great. I will say that you do have to do a real visual inspection of each piece of flooring before you nail it in, this flooring contained numerous defects that would be unacceptable in the finished floor. This is expected to a degree with most all flooring but I think I found defects in over 15 percent of the product - on the good side, most of the bad pieces could be cut up and used as starters/finishers or hidden in closets.

We have always been avid do it yourselfers. We took on quite a challenge but are proud of how it came out. It is a job for much younger people than ourselves since we are now in our seventies. Would have the Home Depot crew install if we needed any more floors done in the future. Their pricing to do the job was certainly fair and reasonable for what it takes.

Disappointed
Bought 418 square feet of this flooring, I let it acclimate for 6 days and when I started the job ran into nothing but poor quality of flooring, it was bowed, crowned, broken or damaged tongues, miss cut ends, or polyethylene on the sides of the boards. So far I have only did half of the project and I am seriously considering not finishing the second half of the room. So disappointed with the quality of this product!!
