In my opinion, this product contained many unacceptable pieces. Far too many short pieces, way off color (even black) pieces.
Some obviously not properly grooved or lipped. I discovered that Home Depot had specified "common" grade from mfg. I ordered 14 boxes of this stuff. Had to buy 2 additional boxes in order to get enough marginally acceptable pieces to replace the unacceptable ones. The installer told me that he would not have taken job had he realized this was purchased thru Home Depot,
having had trouble like this before. Many knots and holes. I am extremely disappointed that this was obviously the very low grade material. We did not realize that we would be getting low grade material from Bruce or Home Depot. We knew nothing about grades of flooring, trusting in Home Depot. We have recently spent thousands on new Kitchen Cabs and Granite tops w/ Home Depot. Well satisfied with that. Not this. WE WANT A PRICE ADJUSTMENT ON THIS. YOUR MAY SEND REPRESENTATIVE IF YOU WISH.

Beautiful flooring!
I now have installed this wood flooring in my living room, dining room, kitchen and den and I LOVE it! I installed it in 2 rooms in summer of 2010 and just finished installing it in the other 2 rooms this spring 2012. It is excellent quality especially for the price! We installed it ourselves and found it great to work with. I had only installed unfinished wood flooring before, but quickly fell in love with the pre-finished oak. I read that some people had trouble with the quality of recent lots of the wood. I found that the cases I bought in 2012 were actually better than those bought in 2010. The color was the same, but there was definately more longer boards this time. The waste with this flooring was very minimal. I highly recommend this product!

Bruce Armstrong Marsh Floor
I was shocked to read the negative review....I actually checked my records to make sure the writer was referring to the floor I bought. I could not disagree more with the negative review of this product. The wood is BEAUTIFUL! The installation was professional, courteous, and evidence of quality workmanship. I wrote an email to their company crediting their fine work. I wish I could enter a photo to this review, as it surpassed my hopes. The wood floor throughout our living room, dining room and hall is durable, easy to maintain, and very attractive. I hope to install it in all three bedrooms. In response to the negative review, that perhaps he should have brought his/her concerns to the attention of HD before writing such a review. Two of the boxes we ordered were damaged in shipping and although the installers were able to select pieces, cut and place them to create a beautiful floor, HD offered to replace the wood we did not use. I have not returned the extra.

Installed 700 sq. ft. in two large rooms and a hallway and could not have been more pleased with the quality of this wood. Lots of long strips, the grains were a nice variety, the finish was perfect. I would estimate 6% waste due just to rejected wood - usually these were missing a full tongue, but sometimes they were warped. Add in waste for cutting and I barely made it with the wood I had ordered.
I was concerned a pre-finished floor would not show well, but boy do we get rave reactions when people come over. It's incredible.

Basically scrap wood
I bought a box of this to patch an area in a doorway, assuming that random length meant some are long. After combing through the whole box, there were 3 pieces longer than 30 inches. The rest of the box was between 12 and 18 inches, basically scrap wood. The quality of the finish is great but you cant do much with scrap wood. Wont buy bruce at HD again

Having used this product before, was disappointed in the amount of unusable pieces due to finish/blemishes in each carton. Perhaps the run# should be checked. I had not encountered this problem before.

Unbeatable price. Nice looking floor. Dings/Dents easily from pet traffic.
We installed this in our bedroom about 2 years ago. For the price (under $1000) it's an outstanding value. It cost about the same as a low to mid grade of carpet.
We love the look. Note, this grade is what I'd call a mixture of #1 and #2 wood - which means you get a mix of fairly clear wood with some pieces that have knots, dark spots, etc. If you want a floor that is basically all clear (no knots or spots) then you'd need to buy "select" grade, which of course is far more expensive.
It was reasonably easy to install with a pneumatic flooring nailer and the help of a friend with some previous flooring experience. Not too many unusable pieces.
The disadvantage is that the floor dings & dents fairly easily from normal foot traffic and especially from pet traffic. It's not really scratched, it's just that when bright light hits the floor at a certain angle, you can really see all the marks and imperfections - "dings". This is a very high gloss floor so the imperfections show up pretty easily.
I can't really complain...the floor still looks nice even with the minor imperfections from the pet traffic. And after all it is a floor, it's meant to be used and walked on.
I would imagine that when we refinish it in 8 or 10 years, we'll use a higher grade of urethane on the floor, which will hopefully prevent the marks and dings from showing.
