I cut out a 53" x 76" piece of carpet by an entrance door in order to install new vinyl plank flooring, specifically Lifeproof rigid core luxury vinyl flooring. The subfloor is poured concrete. I needed a transition strip between the vinyl plank flooring and the carpet. Unfortunately, this was the only option so I also had to install an aluminum tack strip for the portion of the carpet that I cut out. Thus, the two transition strips are adjacent and do not provide the ideal finish. A single transition strip was preferred but not available. Aluminum would have been preferred over plastic. Also, the strip included only four (4) plastic bushings and screws for mounting, but the galvanized steel channel onto which the molding snaps has about 10 holes. I did not use the supplied bushings. Instead, I drilled 1/4" holes in the concrete subfloor and installed different, stronger bushings made for concrete.

i decided that shadow hickory had a mil...i decided that shadow hickory had a mil layer of only 6, which is rated pretty low. recommended 12 mil layer is the lease acceptable.... i had to hunt your website because you don't even have this quality on display. i did find vinyl planking on your website at 20 mil and purchased that. i must say any and all of your employees are great. especially exceptional is Robert Canales at your torrance home depot. knowledge and helpful and pleasant. and patient beyond belief. thank you LaVonne Myro

Otherwise it does very well floor to tile.

Replaced flooring with Lifeproof Vinyl product and could not be happier, installation is a breeze as underlayment is already attached to product. Highly recommended on rehab or new construction.

I used a rubber mallet to set the trim. I placed some weight on the trim to make sure everything set to the floor shape.
