This was a couple dollars more than the flesh colored gum rubber float. I thought this may be more durable but I think it is actually less durable. I had been changing out the gum float every couple jobs. I was maybe getting 2000 to 3000 sqft of grouting out of one of those. This one is already pretty worn after only about 600 sqft. It is still usable, but will probably be done after about 1,000 to 1500 sqft. I've only used it on porcelain tile that is pretty smooth. I think the other float does a better job of cleaning the grout off the surface of the tile.

This float is supposed to be suitable for epoxy type...This float is supposed to be suitable for epoxy type grout. I was using grout designed for vinyl flooring and the instructions said to use an epoxy type float. While it did ok, it kept wearing off little pieces of the float, I kept having to clean the edge of the float with a razor blade. It's OK

I have had many different floats over the years as...I have had many different floats over the years as a home fix it guy. The smooth easy to clean surface is worth the cost.

Its value cant be beat.I am not a fan of the QEP product line of tools, but I have to say this is a great float. I know some people may think; well there isn't much to say about a grout float, but I beg to differ. Using a horrible grout float can make putting down grout a pain, especially when it comes time to sponge the grout lines. When you use a bad float, they can leave a lot of grout sand behind for a much longer clean up process. This float has hard face for pushing the grout into the lines, a hard straight edge for pulling the extra grout to the next tile without leaving a lot of grout behind on the tile, and a soft foam core that flexes when you run the float over the lines. Oh also another great perk about this float is its durable. I have used it to tile my entire house, helped a neighbor tile their home, and tiled my sister's living room and its still going strong ready for the next job. Most of these QEP products are for the home DIYer that is simply going to toss the tool after the job is finished. This is one of the QEP products that you can easily clean and keep for the next job. You just cant find anything better for 15 bucks.
