Description

Cinder Wood Fusion 12 mm Thick x 6-1/8 in. Wide x 50-4/5 in. Length Laminate Flooring (17.44 sq. ft. / case) - Product information

Home Decorators Collection Cinder Wood Fusion is a delightful American wood blend created from old barn walls, an early 20th century manufacturing house floor and Midwestern US fence pieces. This design captures the great history of the United States in a cohesive style that will work in any home or business. Four different species are represented in this flooring: Oak, White Walnut, heavily weathered Pine and Birch. The Embossed in Register authentic texture and popular gray color completes the design, elevating this reclaimed look to a new level of style.

Simply.....AWESOME!! I wasn't sure of the exact color of this flooring since the only color mentioned in the description is "Taupe"....I read all the details and saw that under color family it's listed as "Medium Gray"...so, I took the chance and ordered the product. I knew that I wanted a wide plank and that's what I got with this; 6 1/8". Perfect. I took a picture of the product as soon as I received it so you could see the color of the planks. I have it next to a gray carpet out in the garage and as you can see...yes, there is a little taupe running through the vinyl but gray is the predominate color and honestly, it looks a lot like "barnwood". I am thrilled with the look and couldn't be happier. The quality is excellent and the planks are quite thick (12mm) which is what I wanted. 6 boxes will do a little over 100 sq feet. It was standard installation, if you've ever put down plank flooring. I couldn't be happier and think you'll love the product, too. Highly recommend!!

OK, so this product is drop dead gorgeous. It is EVERYTHING we hoped it would be! It almost brings tears to my eyes when I walk into the room because it is seriously perfection. I love the dark painted seams giving the illusion of barnwood all over the floor. Perfection.
However, installation was a BEAR for us. It took us about 10 hours to do one room. We purchased cheaper laminate for our other two bedrooms and it went down super easy in a couple hours. These boards we could not get a single one to click fully in place. We had to pound them into place each and every time, which further damaged the opposite end of the board, requiring more pounding to be done on the next board. I read the instructions a few times and still have no figured out why we struggled so much with it. But it was SO worth the work because I'm in love with it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

The floor looks great, but .... something's not quite right. This is the 6th "click n' lock" type floor I installed and, of all of them, the edge locks were a real pain to get properly engaged. When the tongue was fully inserted at a 20 degree angle into the groove of the plank to be engaged and lowered into place, it would not always lie flat unless heavy downward pressure was applied which was accompanied by a sound of the MDF fibers/adhesive tearing; I have never experienced this in any of the other 5 installs. As result, the time required to lay 100 square feet of flooring to 2-4 times longer than any of the others. My impression is that the machines used to mill the tongue, groove, or both was slightly out of calibration.
As with other laminate floors, a padded underlayment is required (cost starts at ~30 cents/square foot and could be as much as nearly a dollar/square foot).
Despite the install issues, I would recommend this product.

great flooring
Seems to be great quality flooring, our carpenter didnt mention any issues he had with it. We are not moved into the home yet so unsure as to durability. Color is a lot more gray than pictured online. Looks like a piece of barnwood though, very pretty! We used it in our upstairs bedrooms and also matches great with LIFEPROOF shadow wood porcelain floor tile.

If you are looking for a totally gray wood laminate - then this flooring is for you. I actually don't see any brown in it at all. It looks much more gray in person than the online pictures. (See my pictures of my final install in a mostly gray bedroom.)
There are about 6 different distinct designs on the planks. This results in a unique and non-uniform look to the finished floor. The contrasting planks definitely add visual interest. There is also some ridges and texture to the boards to make it seem more like natural wood. The different designs are split between the boxes, so be sure to open all your boxes and mix them together first.
I actually installed this laminate on a wall. The different styled planks actually worked out really well to create a feature wall. You do not need any underlayment to install on a wall, but you will need some construction adhesive and a nail gun. You will also need to get the bottom row extremely level or it will result in obvious gaps on your finished wall by the time you get to the top.
The reason I took off one star is because the installation is not the greatest. I have installed several click lock floors (and even other click lock floors from Home Decorators brand.) They have all been extremely easy. This particular floor required pounding it with a rubber mallet quite hard to get it to lay flat. You could also hear some MDF tearing a bit. This appears to be a wide spread issue with this "Fusion" line of floors. I have not come across this with other click lock installations. The final outcome was fine though.
