looks so beautiful
after being without flooring for 7 weeks after an ordeal with our subfloors, I was more than excited to have our flooring installed yesterday. it looks just beautiful. it is a very dark brown color with a wave to the wood. it is handscraped finish that I think would make it last longer with every day wear and tear. I can not account to how durable this is yet since it was just installed yesterday. I have 2 very large dogs and that's why we went with a bamboo, so hopefully it will hold up to our crazy pets! as a sidenote, I did notice that since it is a dark color wood it will show a lot of footprints and dust. but I think that is to be expected with any dark wood flooring. also, the installers needed to go back and get special nails to install this wood. I think this is because the bamboo is so hard. just in case any of you are doing this yourself!

You get what you pay for! 3 boxes delivered damaged. Of 180 pieces used, 10 damaged. Some boxes were cobbled together scrap. Boards straight. Finish beautiful but wont stay! Some VERY rustic, not matching rest. Beware of glue and remover! Mapei brand removed finish so our floor is ruined! Nail It.

The style and detail is nice, but the AO finish easily scratches which leaves bright white marks that cannot be fixed. The only thing you can really do is hide it with some kind of orange oil cleaner or rejuvinate. Also, be mindful of water as this expands easily.

Beautiful, but scratches easily
We nail installed this product, the wood is so hard that the nails didn't drive correctly. We used 1-1/2 inch 16 gauge L-Cleats, which (after experience) is too thick. 18 gauge was easier. No one at Home Depot, or the brand could tell me what size/type of nail to use. I was really disappointed. As stated, the wood is so hard, so it doesn't always absorb the nail. The tongue cracks and then you have to carefully remove the intrusion before laying the next board. This took a lot of time! (70% of nails went in fine, but the 30% of nails that we had to fix, probably took 70% of the time)
After installation, the floors look beautiful! However, they scratch really easily, so I'm constantly worried about someone dropping something with a sharp edge, or a rock on the bottom of a shoe. I guess I'll be getting the touch-up stuff!
I think it'd get this type of flooring again (as it appears to be really durable, besides the finish). I would not get the Walnut color, I'd go with something more natural in case of scratches.
Oh, and delivery was a joke. The pallet was too heavy for the delivery guy to move by himself. He tried, and the whole thing was a total train wreck. But at 80# a box, delivery makes sense.

Beautiful but use caution
Love these floors finally..
Ok used glue down. beware you do not need alot of glue since these are tounge and groove.. first row too much glue seeps throu seams.. very hard to remove glue from flooring it took 4 days and finally with magic eraser and scratching it off ( which dulled the heck out of it) glue came off. Then 2 coats of floor shine and brand new well almost.. where gloves finger prints leave marks on wood when laying them down..

Bad quality
We had our living room installed with this product a year and a half ago. The Foor looks great for awhile. Recently there were bupples in 3 or 4 pieces that appear on the surface of the material. Manufacture denied our claim they said because of floor moisture. The house was built in 1981 and if there are bubbles due to moist it will not be on the surface. Save your money, don't buy this poor product.

Great floor, looks better in person
I'm in the middle of installing 1000 sq feet of this SW walnut bamboo. I am using blackjack foam backer which has made the floor sound like a rock when tapped. For a nailer I purchased a Freeman 18ga flooring nailer. I highly recommend it for this job- no miss hits and lays the nail perfectly when set at 65 psi.
A few observations:
It's not an easy floor to install. From the shear weight of the boxes to the delicate nature of the nailing you know it's no ordinary install job. The foam backer might make it slightly more difficult but you really need a sacrificial block and patience to get each board in place. For the starter row and last rows where the nailer can't reach I am predrilling and using a 16ga nailer set at 100psi with 2" nails.
The edges are somewhat fragile. If you don't hit square it will chip, and when it does it splinters into needle like shards. Once installed it shouldn't be a problem.
The available matching stair tread is garbage. It is NOT made of SW bamboo but oak instead (they may have a laminated veneer of bamboo but it's tough to tell because the finish looks like it was sprayed on during a sandstorm.
All in all I would purchase again but I would caution you to budget 2-3 times your anticipated work time. And I've done several floors before. My only concern is longevity. After seeing what it looks like when chipped, I can't see any way it can be sanded and refinished....
