We laid the Shadow Hickory LifeProof vinyl flooring throughout our living room and kitchen and thoroughly regret it. :( It was easy enough to install, but did not cut exclusively with a blade as the Home Depot representative told us it would. You will need a miter saw to install. It looks cheesy installed as there aren't really any defined planks. "LifeProof" is kind of a deceiving name because though it may be waterproof, it is very prone to scratches. We have a small family - take our shoes off at the door, put felt pads on all of the chairs and furniture, use large area rugs, etc. but small things like a cardboard box on the floor or my son's plastic truck will scratch the floor almost instantly. It is very frustrating as we expected a "luxury vinyl" to hold up a little better compared to cheaper laminate. We had planned on installing this flooring in the bedrooms as well, but now do not want to continue.

I was renovating my basement after water got in and ruined the previous flooring (I hated that flooring anyway) ;-) I wanted to make sure whatever I used was something that could resist water damage, but really wanted the look of hardwood flooring. I thought about wood look tile but didn’t want such a hard surface underfoot. I decided to try this. I am very happy with the end result. The color is great, and visually gives the look I was going for. You know it’s vinyl underfoot but it’s softer than the tile alternative I was looking at. You have to watch the boards for repeat pattern and space those out, otherwise very easy to install, I used a miter and table saw to cut.

cabin bedrooms flooring
Just got done installing over 320 ft.² into two Cabin bedrooms in northern Minnesota! Did my research and chose the Life proof Hickory to match the knotty pine walls! Chose the vinyl over laminate because of the waterproof aspects, because of being near the water and tracking into rooms. First a couple notes about installation of the flooring. When installing you definitely need a mitre saw and a table saw to make accurate cuts and help with alot easier installation! Also you need to watch the video and use scrap pieces of the vinyl flooring and a rubber mallet, to help install it correctly! It’s not easy to work with in the beginning, but when you figure it out and you start to get peices to click, you know it is correctly snap together! You also need to start in the left-hand corner of every room and work down for it to install correctly!Hopefully I will write another review and a few months and let you know how it’s holding Up.

BIG MISTAKE
I am so sorry we had this flooring installed. The floor measurement tech talked us out of Lifeproof Pergo into this product, and we wish we had not listened to him. It may be waterproof, but that is the ONLY thing about it that I can't criticize. It looks fake, like cheap linoleum, and scratches VERY easily. I just wish we could rip the whole thing out and install something else, but just can't afford to do that. It's only been in for a few months, and I hate the thought of putting up with this for the long haul. We tried to work with Home Depot to get a discount on installing another product as we were willing to put out some extra cash, but they came back with the same price we originally paid. No discount for our dissatisfaction. Don't buy this!

I did a lot of research to find a vinyl plank flooring product that was formaldehyde and phthalate free. Was mislead by one large company saying that their products were low voc but still had both of those chemicals and recycled vinyl in the mix. I stumbled over this brand and was surprised to see that Home Depot was labeled as a leader in changing to non toxic flooring options. We installed lifeproof over concrete and it was easy, (no underlayment or acclimation time) looks beautiful, stays room temperature and feels "soft" underfoot. It does not sound hollow or like walking on plastic. So happy with the look and feel and grateful for the commitment to healthier flooring. I had a question regarding the types of mats that were okay to use and was greeted right away by a knowledgeable, friendly woman at the provided 800 phone number. Very happy with the product and price!

COLOR = Essential Oak.
We have a crazy lab dog who has destroyed our cherry hardwood floor in our old house. We have been very careful in choosing what to put for flooring in our new house. We went to many stores and have tried to key many samples to see if they are scratch resistance. HOME DEPOT WINS! We have this floor for 5 months now and it looks as nice as day 1.

After many weeks of trying to select the right flooring color, the critical thing we overlooked was the inter-locking mechanism used with this product. After laying roughly 6-7 boxes, it became apparent that the locking mechanism is very particular and not like other interlocking/floating floor products. We noticed that closing gaps on the (short) end is more than mildly annoying, it is absolutely infuriating. We finally got to the point where we decided it's not worth the effort and returned the product. Again, let me be clear, it's the interlocking mechanism that is flawed or subpar compared to other products we've installed. If you plan to install yourself, while in HD, take out several of the samples and simply try to join (make sure you understand how the short-ends connect). If you have a small room (less than 400sq/ft) you might be able to deal with this product. If you have to install more than that, take my advice and switch to a different product. Make sure the interlocking mechanism is NOT flexible or damaged easily if you need to pull it up and re-install.

I have installed several laminate and luxury vinyl plank floors and this product stands out as the best that I have encountered so far. For this kitchen job I purchased another product that looked very nice but it was not nearly as well constructed and the material used for the joints came broken in many places and easily cracked and jammed when installing . . . especially if you have to remove and reinstall such as when water gets under it . . . which indeed happened. I ended up returning that product to a different supplier and purchased LifeProof planks at my local Home Depot. The difference was like night and day. It went together easily, had a good video with instructions and none of the joints were damaged before and during the install process. I installed using a saw but they say a knife can be used as well . . . that would take more elbow grease but it would make less of a mess with vinyl shavings. I would highly recommend this new product for DIYers . . . it will save a bunch of money and looks great.
