SpeedFinish Patching and Finishing Compound is a fast-curing, cement-based patching and skim coating compound that provides a smooth finish to a variety of substrates prior to the installation of floor coverings. Formulated with Controlled Cure technology, SpeedFinish eliminates installation problems of bond failure, crumbling and staining of resilient flooring due to free-moisture found in traditional underlayments. It allows installation of most floor coverings in as little as 15 minutes.

As stated in other reviews, this cement/compound cures very quickly. Once water is added I estimate you have 5-7 minutes of working time before it starts to harden. After ~7 minutes you'd better have your patch in place and troweled because it becomes like hard clay at that point.
With that in mind, strongly suggest mixing up small batches if you have a lot of different spots to patch. Strangely the instructions only give you the amount of water necessary to mix for the whole 10lb box.
I'll save you the math I had to do for smaller batch quantities - 1 cup of water per pound of SpeedFinish mix.
I estimate it was completely cured and solid within 30 minutes. Worked great to fill plywood voids in the subfloor in preparation for laying down vinyl tile.

SpeedFinish mixes easily and dries quickly. I was able to level up the area where I had imperfect...SpeedFinish mixes easily and dries quickly. I was able to level up the area where I had imperfections between old and new concrete and then lay tile within an hour. I was very pleased.

SMOOTH & EASY APPLICATION, STAYS STUCKUsed to fill large voids in wood floor after patching openings with particle board. Tried Durams Wood Puddy, but it was way too expensive per ounce after the water was added- the large 4-Lb container reduces to less that 1/3 of the volume of the can when water is applied. SPEEDFINISH had much less volume reduction when mixed. Begins to set in about 8 min., becomes walkable in about 15. Recommend using a drill mixing attachment to ensure consistency.

No other finishing compound measures up to this one!Easy to prepare compound has an intermediate set speed, not too fast, not too slow, just right. The finish isn't chalky or brittle, like other finishing compounds. The surface is easy to smooth or texture, whatever the job calls for. It takes and keeps a painted finish, giving an artistic presentation. We're currently using this in a historic house, where it is desirable to keep the floors to a specified thickness, and painting to faux marble finish. The end result is perfect.

Works perfectly!I just finished leveling out some spots where the rapid set leveling compound didn't flow quite right for me. This stuff worked perfect. The directions are spot on and it is so easy to apply. As I got to the last little bit in the bucket it started to set; maybe a drop of dish soap would have helped that to flow a little longer. Otherwise I am very happy. One tip is to use a large drywall knife in place of a float or trowel.

WowI had previously bought another product that took 12 to 14 hours to cure. This stuff is ready in 15 min. Just like it says. Great for just leveling small areas with a small amount of height to level out. Work quickly because this stuff is no joke! The remainder of the product in a homer bucket was hot. Even warped the bucket a little. After 25 minutes I couldn't even get any out of the bucket! I wouldn't use this on big areas. But, it worked perfectly for what I needed to do.
