Cal-Flor VaporBlock is designed to be used under floating hardwood and laminate floor underlayments to prevent moisture from coming up through the subfloor to your flooring. VaporBlock is 6-mil polyethylene film with adhesive positioning tape to create a minimum of 3 in. overlap. Covers 12 ft. x 25 ft. for a total of 300 sq. ft. Consists of two rolls that are 6 ft. wide x 25 ft. long to give you a total of 300 sq. ft. coverage.

We live in South Florida and vapor block is absolutely necessary when putting down any kind of wood floor. If you live in an area where moisture has a tendency to stay in the ground putting a vapor block down before laying your wooden floor is a must. This polyethylene vapor block is a perfect choice. The size of the material makes it easy to handle and it lays down very flat. The thickness is just right. It gives you the field of high-quality but not so thick that it affects the lay of your wooden floor. If you're putting any type of flooring down that requires a vapor block this product will work very well for you.

I am in the process of installing a full basement of vinyl plank flooring over concrete, so I nee...I am in the process of installing a full basement of vinyl plank flooring over concrete, so I need a polyethylene vapor barrier. This is very nice poly, clearer and with a smoother finish than the 100x10 foot roll I had bought at my local Home Depot, though I think neither really matters for this purpose. A nice feature is a line of "positioning tape" you can use to keep lengths from shifting as you install them, though it isn't very strong. The instructions still recommend that you seal seams with packing tape (or you can use vapor barrier tape.)

Manageable roll size at 6 feet. 6 mil is just fine for vapor barriers and the 25 foot length is p...Manageable roll size at 6 feet. 6 mil is just fine for vapor barriers and the 25 foot length is perfect for cutting in half for typical 12' room lengths. In the 2-pack you would receive 300 sq/ft (not entirely obvious by the description). Enough for 2 12x12 rooms.
Overall a good choice for smaller flooring jobs over concrete or anywhere a vapor barrier is needed.

POLYETHYLENE VAPOR UNDERLAYMENT FOR HARDWOOD & LAMINATE FLOORS is an excellent and durable vapor barrier, for use in either hardwood and laminate installation. The vaporblock makes your installation an easier process. We were really impressed that it has pre-attached positioning tape that aligns each row of film as you lay it out, making it much easier than using tape. Although the vaporblock is designed as a moisture barrier to be used over concrete slabs, it can also be used over normal subfloors. It allows the flooring to smoothly expand. The instructions included are very easy to understand.

I intend to use this under real hardwood in my Victorian home where I'm replacing carpet in a res...I intend to use this under real hardwood in my Victorian home where I'm replacing carpet in a restoration project. My intention is to keep moisture from seeping up to the new hardwood (even though the subfloor is plywood covered) from an unfinished cellar that retains water year round. It is 6 mil which one can find in Home Depot but its usually not rolled but folded making it harder to install. The positioning tape is a great idea allowing in the measurments an overlap that won't shift with time. It's very easy to unroll as you position and lay it down.

This is a Vapor block moisture barrier , 6 mil polyethylene film. 150 sq ft- 2 rolls ( making it 300 sq ft altogether). I loved the way they included positioning tape on the plastic. Using this film over the rough sub-floor reduces lateral friction , when pad attached flooring is used. It allows the flooring to smoothly expand.This vapor barrier was great to use over the flooring of this built on addition.Versatile use for hardwood or Laminate floors.

I used this plastic to cover a dirt crawl space and saw moisture trapped under the sheet after on...I used this plastic to cover a dirt crawl space and saw moisture trapped under the sheet after only one day! The dirt looked totally dry and I didn't realize how much moisture must have been coming up into the crawl space for years. Even though I don't see any mold I can't believe how much moisture was coming up. I wish I had done this a long time ago.
I have used this plastic as a moisture barrier under engineered floors, too, but now I really see the benefit.

Although 6 ml. polyethylene is the best protection for under laminate and hardwood floors, the norm is to also purchase seaming tape to seal the seams between each row of vaporblock.. This PE film has attached positioning tape which aligns each row of film as you lay it out, much easier than using separate tape to do the job. Very clear instructions are included for the novice installers.
