The Roberts SVS Silicone Vapor Shield is an underlayment that is in a class by itself. Our SVS is made of 6 mil wet strength paper and has a baked silicone coating that won't allow moisture to penetrate though to your hardwood and engineered wood floors. It is ideal for staple and nail down installations. The proprietary manufacturing process produces a strong product that will not fall apart like red rosin, craft and wax papers do. Our SVS has been vigorously tested under multiple conditions for moisture permeability and is proven to be far-and-away the best rated underlayment paper for moisture protection. SVS also meets the recommended perm guidelines as set forth by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA). The two sides of SVS make it easy to install with the matte finish down and the smooth surface up which allows installers to easily mark chalk lines and slide wood planks easily into position. Radiant Panel Association lab tests have confirmed that SVS is also suitable for use on radiant heated floors and has achieved accolades from the Radiant Heat Association. Our SVS is made in Canada with 100% recycled contents.

best ever!I do not usually bother taking the time to write a review of products. H however I am making an exception in this case. I have used felt, red paper, and just about any other underlayment you can stick under Hardwood. this is by far the best. it is dimensionally stable, allows the wood to slide easily making joints between the wood easier to get tight. It is dimensionally stable unlike polyethylene plastic underlayment. I found it very easy to use. I highly recommend it. I just bought out the last stock of my local Home Depot because it looks like they put it on clearance. I hope I will still be able to get it for future jobs. the only reason it would be on clearance is because people do not realize how good it really is.

Amazing ProductThis was so easy to use nothing else out there that compares to it. It made installation super fast because you could slide the planks across it. I would highly recommend to use this product and its environmentally friendly too!

DIY User - Installation under 3/4" thick Maple Hardwood Nail-down...DIY User - Installation under 3/4" thick Maple Hardwood Nail-down on plywood subfloor. No idea whether it works or not (too early to tell) but easy to install, roll out and lay floor on top. My only complaint (hence 4 stars not 5) is that you lose the first foot of the roll because of the packaging - the label is impossible to remove so you have to cut both parts of it off - but I'm sure in the long run it won't make that much difference - if I run out it'll be a different story though! lol.
