Absolute Quality
It is a requirement that one use a slant nailer to install this product with a minimum pressure on the pneumatic setting of 100 lbs/in. If you have never used this tool you must practice nailing a couple of scrap pieces to get a feel for the tool and how the flooring will accept the nails. You will also need a jig saw with a fine blade for plywood for making any cut-outs.
Your floor will have minor depressions and rises in it - all floors do. This will cause adjacent pieces of flooring to want to separate and leave a gap. In most cases the slant nailer will draw the flooring pieces together, but in some instances given the depression or rise it will not. To address these issues you will need a house jack positioned against a 2X4 nailed to the 3/4" plywood subfloor with the head pressing the plastic piece used to tap the flooring pieces together. Slowly expand the jack pushing the pieces together, then nail while jack is engaged.
ALWAYS CHECK BELOW THE FLOOR BEFORE NAILING TO ASSURE NO PLUMBING OR ELECTRICAL FIXTURES ARE IN THE WAY, AS THE NAILS CLEAR THE 3/4" STANDARD FLOORING BY 3/8" INCH.
Remove any trim from the room and leave at least 5/8" to 3/4" space with chalk line against the wall for expansion and position your floor pieces against this chalk line.
GO SLOW and take your time making certain to position random pieces of flooring such that you do not create contiguous cross seams in the floor.

Beautiful Oak Flooring! Nothing Beats 3/4” Real Solid Wood!
We ordered this flooring last summer. Surgery kept me from really getting into the installation until this year. I was worried about having unopened cases of hardwood flooring sit around waiting for me to get to them later. No worries! This flooring is great! Having installed nearly 1,200 sq ft of 2 1/4” Bruce flooring in another home, this 3 1/4” flooring was a dream because you lay 1/3 fewer rows of boards. I am inpressed by the very small amount of defects. There have also been plenty of long boards with not too many short boards. Installation has been uneventful. Strongly recommend purchase of a flooring jack to keep the boards straight. I haven’t used it very much but using it where necesary is critical to keeping the floors looking great. I would buy this Bruce hardwood flooring again!

I have laid about 150 sq.ft. so far and was very surprised at how many defective pieces there were. The majority defect was the tongue not being complete all the way down the plank. It this wood was originally 8.00 sq.ft. I am really glad that I got it at the price I did.
I have put down alot of hardwood floor but never had this many bad pieces.

The hardwood is solid and matched our flooring we had from prior owners. If you have Butterscotch stain it appears to have more of a red tone but that could be the fading over years.
Only issue we had was the first shipment was damaged since it was sent UPS. Wendy at HD in Palatine told us we need to request truck shipment on a pallet from Armstrong warehouse. We did and the 2nd batch was not damaged.
Thanks to Wendy for going out of her way to make our customer service experience at HD awesome!

Durable and Beautiful
I love our Bruce Oak Butterscotch Hardwood floor! Everyone who comes in, comments on how it shines and compliments my furnishings. We have a dog , so the floor needs frequent mopping ...so very easy to do! We use Armstrong Hardwood cleaner to keep it clean and shining when needed. The sealed finish keeps our floor looking like the day it was installed. Thank you Bruce for making such a quality product!
