Too much variation in color
In each of the four boxes that I ordered, there was drastic variation in the color of planks. Some planks were very light, others were medium to dark. It almost looks like two different types of wood. A few pieces were just ugly with natural gray areas that looked out of place. I ordered the same thing in the past and there was much less variation in the color.
The quality of the boards is excellent. A few pieces had small knots which formed indentations in the top of the board, but the rest were very solid and smooth. The click-lock mechanism was perfectly cut on every piece, and the boards didn't get scratched at all when the hammer grazed them while hammering in trim pieces.

Millstead Click Wood Flooring
The flooring quality is quite high and should hold up for many years. The instructions suggest that the edges be tapped into place by a rubber mallet. I found that a mallet was a requirement to get everything properly seated and edges flush. The instructions should call it a requirement. Other than that, the installation is easy and the final job is superb.

Very beautiful once installed - follow instructions
I installed about 950 square feet on the 1st floor of my home. Getting the floor flush is crucial, as I had linoleum attached to 1/4 particle board I had to rip up to true the floor. That was cumbersome, but installing this flooring is not. I highly recommend an oscillating multi tool for door jams and tricky cuts. There are a few tips to know when putting this down. First, open multiple boxes and coordinate the wood by color and tone. I found 1 box with many dark pieces and one with all light. Open and work with at least 4-6 boxes at a time, lay it out first then set it down it will blend better this way. Second, if you're floating it, make sure you leave room on the ends and don't put it in too tight against the wall. This will cause squeaking/popping. Using a quality under-lay padding is also a big help for sound. Finally if you have a heavy fridge or appliance on top - be careful!! Birch is soft soft under pressure, and the finish will dent/mar if you drag a heavy fridge over it with out being careful. We have no pets, but if I did, have a dog with I might find a different product. One other thing I see people asking is the nosing and molding for this flooring - I used maple and you can't see the difference. That being said, I chose this flooring because I liked how it compliments the dark and light colors in my home and furniture.

I Did and addition to a customers house who had this product installed a few years earlier. The New wood matched up perfectly and was easily installed. I have installed many different brands and types and I must say this was one of the least problematic products I have used.

The flooring was easy to layout and install. Mitre cuts and square cuts were consistently smooth with no chipping on the edges. I was able to remove pieces already installed to correct a mistake

The click together feature absolutely did not function properly. It left the boards raised up. I had to return the boards to the store.
