Works - If Installed Right
I can't be sure, but it's possible some people are not removing the thin plastic film on one side of this product. There are no instructions that come with it, and it does not look like it is supposed to be removed, but it is.
I cut out the section I needed for an area rug I have sitting on carpet near the garage door.
On one side of the product is a sticky material, on the other is a thin plastic film. If you leave it at that, no, this product will never work for you as the film side is not sticky and the rug will move all over the place.
However, if you look closely you will see that the thin film has a "pull" tab (a few inches wide) that runs along the edge of one side, like the film and pull tab on single-serving processed cheese slices. If you pull on that tab, it will peel the thin film off the other side, now making both sides "sticky."
I laid the area rug down on my carpet, and it hasn't moved since despite all the traffic coming in and out of the garage door.

After installation of the product, I have had great results from it. I installed it through my wa...After installation of the product, I have had great results from it. I installed it through my wall ways, door entrance etc. it’s a product you can’t refuse if you have issues with rugs not staying in place or when vacuuming they get caught in the vacuum. This product was installed almost an Month ago and the results are great. The price is very reasonable, instructions are very easy to follow

Other than being tricky to open and lack of instruction...Other than being tricky to open and lack of instruction on which side goes on area rug and which side on carpet, the pad works great. No wrinkles.

Great solution to a nagging problemI have a retail business and commercial carpet. I keep an area rug in the entry area. It's been a constant problem keeping the carpet straight and wrinkle-free until now. I bought two 5'x8' pads for use with an 8'x10' carpet. Problem solved! The area rug lies flat and doesn't move around.
The package contains no instructions. Briefly, I unpackaged and laid the pad(s) down on my carpet, sticky side down. Then I peeled off the thin plastic coating. I rolled the area rug onto the pad, squared it up, and then ran the sweeper to flatten the area rug out.
The pad is smaller than 5'x8' in order to leave a border around the area rug. The pad and the area rug can be carefully moved to place it correctly. Do not attempt to walk on the pad!

Works fine if you know how to use it !Thanks to the reviewers that explained how the thin layer of film had to be peeled off. Its not obvious at all. I peeled off the film and stuck that side to the rug. That was the magic trick.
Strange that the manufacturer does not provide this critical piece of information or any installation instruction that changes the product from completely useless to useful.

Works really well on some rugsWho wants to replace carpet for an entire room or house just to cover the most-used areas when you can install rugs over carpet?
I installed this underneath a rug runner over carpet in my living room a couple of years ago. I am thrilled that the runner has not budged one inch since I applied it. Vacuuming and even cleaning it with a carpet machine does not move it at all.
However, I have to say that iit did not work well with some other rugs I had. It seems that the material used in the backing of the rug has a lot to do with how this product sticks.
I just installed a new one for the rug runner in my hallway (like five minutes ago). It is sticking very well and I am hopeful I will have the same results as I did in the living room.

ExcellentI have a 5 x 8 area rug placed on carpet floor in my living room. I have put my coffee table on top of the area rug. Before using the gripper pad my area rug was moving and bending near the coffee table legs whenever me and my husband sat or walked on the area rug. This gripper pad worked perfectly and keeps my area rug in place. My area rug has no creases now. :)) The better way to use it is to stick the gripper to the carpet floor first and then place area rug on it.
