Lighter than I Hoped
I made this purchase because I had used Bruce flooring in the past and I was very pleased with the quality and appearance of the wood. I think that I will be happy with these floors as well. They are easy to clean and I expect them to retain their luster (as my last flooring did until an unfortunate flood ruined all of my floors). I've had the floors in for 2 weeks now and without any rugs down, I still haven't seen a scratch from my high-heels or my dogs nails. I hired a professional to do the work - a crew of 4 completed my 332 sq. ft room in 4 hours and that included the time it took to move the furniture in and out and to put the quarter round/shoe mold up. The floor is very nice, but the color sample that I picked up in store was a little darker than the floors actually turned out to be. The color is pretty light, with just a few dark boards here and there. The overall look is very natural, but it's too light for my taste. I will say that the photo on the HD website is pretty accurate (on my laptop, anyway) so if you like that color, go for it. I highly recommend this product, but maybe in a different color.

I like the overall appearance of the floor once installed. It is shiny, and the floor is relative...I like the overall appearance of the floor once installed. It is shiny, and the floor is relatively resilient against scratches and dings. The installation was made difficult however due to a significant proportion (~25%) of the boards having a projection of wood on one end that prevented the click lock system from working. The extension had to be snapped off, taking with it a significant strip of the connecting piece of wood. I am wondering if that accounts for many online complaints I came across from others with this product, who reported "buckling" of their floors. Be sure to leave considerable space between the wall and the board to allow for expansion. In addition, DO NOT use the white underlayment product recommended on the Home Depot site! It is very thin and cheap, and needs to be completely taped down. You would be better off with the Pergo underlayment which has an overlapping edge with the next piece, preventing the need for any tape use. I had water leak from a dishwasher under a counter and bar, ending up UNDER the white underlayment and still the water seeped up and in less than an hour damaged 3 rows of the flooring! Waterproof this product is NOT. Wipe any moisture off quickly, find a reliable underlayment and pray!
Finally, be aware this color is increasingly hard to come by. I bought all the transition pieces I could find from home depot but needed more and had to order them from another chain, in a DIFFERERENT color (pecan) because Home Depot ran out of the T-pieces. And these transition pieces are horrible to install. They do not click and lock. They must be glued, and reglued and reglued again. That has been the most frustrating part of all of this.
