Pad glued-down and nailed-down hardwood or engineered wood floors with Insulayment to dampen sounds and conserve warmth. Simply glue the pad to a structurally solid concrete or wood subfloor and then adhere the planks directly to it. For ceramic tile, use latex-modified thinset mortar both below and above the Insulayment. The subfloor and installation materials must be in accordance with industry standards as outlined by the National Wood Flooring Association for wood floor applications, the Tile Council of America for ceramic and porcelain tile and natural stone applications.
- Ideal for glue-down or nail-down wood flooring as well as ceramic tile
- Can be used in conjunction with heated underlayment to fill in small non-heated areas for installations beneath glue-down wood flooring or ceramic tile
- Impact Insulation Class (FIIC) rating of 60, Sound Transmission Class (STC) rating of 53, perfect for condominiums and apartment buildings
- No attached vapor barrier, allows excellent adhesion with wood-flooring adhesives and thinset mortars

Just What We Needed
This product really tied the job together and help make it a project I was proud of. I really liked how the MP Global Insulayment Accoustical Recycled Fiber Underlayment did exactly what I expected. Made my floors more quiet and more comfortable AND helps keep them warmer. I would recommend this product, and am glad I decided to make it a part of my project. Great Price for product...I am revamping my entire apartment and am removing all carpet to put in bamboo flooring. I spent many hours online researching the products and qualities of each. Cork seemed to be the best, but comes with a hefty price tag. Found this to be both resonably priced and shipping was super fast. Such a difference with sound too!! I don't think the neighbors below will be complaining as much after putting this under the flooring...

My hardwood flooring manufacturer (3/4 inch oak hardwood nail down) specified a felt type underlayment that "does not" have a vapor barrier and this product fits that category. It gives some sound proofing qualities and a little cushion to the floor, it's very nice to walk on the finished floor. We have had it down for just a few weeks now and we are real pleased with the results. I ordered 6 rolls of this product from the home depot website (its not a regular stocked item in the stores) on a Monday and it was at the store and ready for pickup on wed. morning! Very Fast Free Shipping.....

very quietInstalled under nail down 5/8" bamboo. Had laminate with the cheap thin foam junk before and you could hear all the annoying noises i think about when i think of hardwood flooring. Long story short, echo's don't exist, the floor is warmer and it's a recycled product.

We used the underlayment to protect the new laminate we installed in our upstairs.
The barrier protects from water and condensation and also provides a dampener between floor levels.
It is very easy to cut with a utility knife and stays in place without too much effort.
I highly recommend using this on ground floors and upstairs.

Great ProductThis product was easy to install. You could cut it with regular household scissors. I used it to fill in the spaces between the Quiet Warmth floor heating mats and the Snapstone tile. It was the same thickness as the mats so taping them together with duct tape (don't use the cheap stuff) was easy and putting the tile over it went well also. Price was very reasonable too.

Surprisingly effective sound insulation.Surprisingly more effective sound insulation than the carpet and pad we replaced. T.V., talking, and walking movement vibrations are muted again better than the thick pad and carpet. Easy to lay-out below the Hardy Backer, better priced than competitors, shipped to us in three days. Five stars.

Great investmentInstalling porcelain tile over concrete slab. Quiet, warm, good price, quick delivery, (only 3 days), a little difficult working with long strips, easy to cut with scissors or a box cutter for long straight cuts with steel straight edge. Rent a 75-80# roller. Takes a lot of preplanning because you are not to walk on it for at least a day. Really, who cares about appearance when it is under the flooring?
