With the MSI 8 in. x 18 in. Rustique Interlocking Slate Mosaic Wall Tile, it's easy to add a one of a kind styling to your decor. This urban and earthy tile features a seemingly random arrangement of tile strips on a 8 in. x 18 in. mesh sheet that makes installation a much easier process. The mosaic has a unique 3-dimensional effect with various thicknesses of the individual strips. With multi-color shades of tumbled natural slate this tile creates a distinct pattern. Ideal for use on interior and exterior walls, the mosaic has infinite applications to complement a variety of installs and design styles. Note: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish, etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer. After installation, vendor disclaims any liabilities.

Looks great, was easy to install. Doesn't need grout on top once finished which saves time and a lot of mess. I used white mastic to glue the tile to my walls which forced me to clean it off the outside of the tiles so it didn't dry white. You can use a toothbrush and water to clean it off then wipe with a wet rag. Home Depot didn't have grey mastic but I would recommend that color to save the extra step of cleaning any that oozes through. Over all a great tile and it was my first try at backsplash installation. It turned out very nice.

It matched out maritime blue cabinets in our kitchen perfectly. We did a beverage bar with a granite (quartzite) countertop. We did not seal the stone since we would not be cooking in the area, only pouring wine or mixing drinks.

Great Addition to our KitchenWe installed these slate tiles as a back splash in our kitchen, and we could not be happier with the result. However, it took us over 25 hours to install around 20 sq ft of tile. The tiles themselves were very easy to cut with a tile saw, but we spent hours laying out the tiles first so that we were sure they meshed together well. (It was worth the extra time, but that is why I rated the ease of installation as Fair.) And because the tiles are not all the same height, we decided to recess the switch plate covers which added to the overall installation time.
We used Omni maximum strength premixed compound (also found at Home Depot) and a the smallest cut out size for the trowel to apply it. After installation and dry time, we applied a sealer and color enhancer in one. The color enhancer made a big difference in the look of the tile! It brings out the different colors of the slate and added some definition to the back splash.

Installation instructions were sparse, make sure your mastic / adhesive is appropriate and follow the instructions on that product.
Would be better if it had some form of inside corner pieces available, or suggestions as to how to handle them. Outside corners would be OK with simply overlapping at the corner. I would suggest for inside corners a piece of wood 1/2 inch square, painted brown, dark grey, or a color you think would blend in.

The color is much lighter than what the picture shows, you will need to seal it if you want it darker.
