Most floor boards come in various sizes in length but run up to 72” or 84”. This product also says “various lengths” but the longest size is 48” and there are only about 5 of those in each box. The other two lengths are 36” and 12” making for really complicated and not well designed looking flooring

The product is good. We had about 550 sq ft to install and the planks took the stain pretty well. Hoping to coat with polyurethane in the coming days

very 'rustic' & very short pieces
when they say #1 and better planks, they mean almost all planks will have knots and blemishes. When they say varying lenghts, they mean from 1 foot, to 3 feet, with the majority being 1 to 2 feet.

Not as good of a deal as it seems
These seemed like a good deal, but they had lots of problems. The boards are not in random lengths they are almost all between 1 foot and 3 feet long. The quality of the wood is also very low. About 10% of the pieces were completely unusable because of knots , or scars from the wood handling equipment. Also, they are not 3/4 inch thick. I was using them to patch an old oak floor that was actually 3/4inch. A little smaller actually since it had been sanded in place. These new boards were about 1/16 thinner than the old boards. They will also take stain very differently. I would recommend a dark stain to make it less noticeable.
So, if you want a new floor you would do much better to buy some of the 3 dollar a sq. ft. prefinished flooring that home depot sells. It will be worth it to get better wood and not have to sand, stain, and finish the floor.

The best for the money
You can't beat this flooring for the money. You can finish it the way you want. Last time I got this, I put it in my dinning room. After sanding, I stained it with a red oak stain and put three coats of polyurethane. Turned out great. This time after sanding, I just put down three coats polyurethane. It brought out the natural highlights of the wood.

Better than expected
The boards aren't very long and there is definitely some variance in appearance. However, this gives it character.
If you like the rustic/natural look, I don't think you will be disappointed. We had the wood sanded and then stained with a colonial maple color and it looks great.
I will most likely buy the same wood for other rooms.
